hi friends, Yahoo is supposedly testing its new interface for Yahoo Mail. It looks more like MS Outlook with the folders etc in a left pane, the mail box on the top half of the right and preview on the bottom. Also a tabbed view if multiple mails are open. Just like Lotus Notes for those who have used it. http://patcavit.com/2005/09/14/y-mail-beta-impressions/http://yahoo.weblogsinc.com/entry/1234000380058717The Email wars are heating up and the end users are getting newer and better features. Finally something is happening in the Email world since Gmail coz otherwise the thing was stuck up with MSN and Yahoo and no major improvement or competition since a long time. Yahoo has form for those interested in joining the beta test(not sure when they would be able to), but this would add u as an interested beta tester. http://surveylink.yahoo.com/wix/p0473306.aspxCheers.

Looks like a nice clean interface, good work from Yahoo. This is new for me, I didn't know Yahoo was planning to redesign their email interface, but of course it's good news, from what i saw of the pictures. Indeed the email industry really needs another big change since Gmail came online with it's HUGE email capacity, cause now users are seeking good looking and easy to use features to make the task of sending and receiving emails more easier and relaxing. And yes, Hotmail really needs to change..

I just took a look at the beta upgrade for Yahoo Mail and it looks much slicker this time around. I especially like the tab features and the "Outlook/Thunderbird" feel to the new design. Good on the folks at Yahoo!

Well I think you are right It started happening after GMAIL came into the picture otherwise till that time we all used to get 2 MB or 10 MB now a days we are getting 1 GB from yahoo and 250 MB from hotmail....now after GMAIL it seems to me that yahoo and hotmail want people to stay with them but popularity of GMAIL is not allowing them to do so...so they thought of coming up with better interface....I am happy with HOTMAIL's interface and it functionalities and YAHOO's new interface is also looking promising..but I wanted to join the beta testers thing..but saw that it is only available for those people who are using @yahoo.com address not for others. One thing is for sure that GMAIL's interface is nice and simple but it lacks lot of functionalities for e.g. Calendar, Notes, Address book's advanced features like export, mailing list........I think these are some of the features which GMAIL will have to bring in fast..so as to stay at the no. 1 position of the email service providers.

SWEET! ITs only because of this interface, many people used Outlook express and other pop3 clients. Good thinking Yahoo! I hope this mail will again throttle up the no. of people using Yahoo Mail.

Why? After Hotmail, Yahoo's already the biggest spam magnet on the planet. The more people who use it, the worse it'll get. I'm not particularly excited about the changes as the only thing I use my Yahoo account for is to sign up to things I think there's a high likelihood I might get ancilliary spam from.

Anyone know if yahoo is going to offer pop access with this new mail system. That is the best thing about gmail. I do get my y! mail with YPops but it was slightly more painful to set up. Just wondering if they were going to follow suit with gmail and let people download their mail if they want to.

Yeah so its a fairly nice interface and all but who needs Yahoo anymore, we've all got Gmail accounts, right?. it looks like their all at it first Microsoft did it and I assume even Google will do it an take inspiration from pretty much every emial client ever, and bring in the 3 pane look, while I dont think this is a bad thing, I personally like that way of organising my messages, and It does look as if Yahoo has managed to implement it very well, we should consider one thing, within a few months (if not sooner) Google will have done it better.

I personally use Yahoo Mail as my primary mail provider. Yahoo provides tons of storage and it presents its information in a friendlier user interface (UI) than other providers such as Hotmail or Gmail. However, this is just my opinion. I've used Yahoo! Mail for two years and I've never left it since. I have used Hotmail but it ... how do I put it politely ... just plain sucks. Too much spam, MSN sends you unwanted email all the time, and it's STILL only 250MB! Come on, can't Microsoft do better? I'm glad to hear that Yahoo! Mail is changing 'cos the old look is starting to get rather cluttered... but I'm a UK citizen so I'm annoyed the Beta Test is only available in the US... hope they bring it here. And to all of you complaining about the spam on Yahoo!, I must say, Yahoo! does seem to get quite a lot of spam at the start of your account (I got ten emails from unknown senders in the first month, all of which were viruses!), but if you put up with it, the problems just fade away. Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection. I tell you, if you get spam from a person and report it, you'll NEVER hear from them again unless you ask it to!

Hmm, Hotmail seems too be doing well being stubborn... But then again, I wouldn't want to waste my time challenging tough competition either. Why should I need to upgrade space when there're already 2 companies battling it out? Besides, Gmail is already winning. I'd focus myself on other things... However, it could also make Hotmail lose revenue... But since they're part of Microsoft anyway, Hotmail is the least of their worries... It's not like Gmail and Yahoo! have their own software company...

Good for Yahoo to update there mail service. I used them for about two years until a month ago. It was very good. I never used that 20GB of email space. I maybe fit 2GB in. LOL. Well it is a great site. QUOTE You are right Google was the one which made the other companies to offer better service, but google still has lot of work to do. I would like to see many new features in such as bookmarking services, more advanced editing options when composing etc.
The problem with Yahoo mails is that certain features are paid, such as POP3, if it is made free then again there is some serious competition. Gmail is okay. Like you said it got some seriuous competition. Only thing i hated about yahoo that i got spam email sent to my normal box. Not bulk. Reason why i left it. Who knows just my opinion. Mysterio

Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh B2tr Released
(6) Microsft has released 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 Technical Refresh (B2TR) for Microsoft
internal use. This means this beta system will be available to all Microsoft employees 7 days before
the public release. The public release of B2TR will not be announced publicly by Microsoft until 14
september. This b2TR promise to remove all those bugs present in Beta 1 and give the user a fast

Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 2
(6) So has anyone downloaded and tried this yet?
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/be...en/default.mspx It's the entire suite for free
and it's really cool. It's such a huge difference from the Office 2000 I've been using
for years. It's a big 450 mb download but I think it's worth it. You have to log in to
download it but all you need is a hotmail account and you don't even need to give them legit
info or anything. I just put in garbledy gook for all fields besides email. The installer is fairly
smart and will remove previous versions....
Firefox 2.0 Beta 1
(13) If you've given the newly-released Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 a spin, you've probably noticed that
there aren't a whole lot of eye-popping new features. However, there are a few subtle
improvements that make it a nice upgrade. In addition to built-in spellchecker, Firefox 2.0 also
has close buttons on every individual tab - a much-needed feature (especially on Mac OS X.)
There's also better (but still not great) RSS integration. When you click on a site's feed

stabled and alot faster i think also the interface is a bit more organized as well. They brought
down some of the icons to the tab bar so the the menu options are not taking up a huge amount of
space up top. but other then that it's comign along nicely i think being somewhat updated and
with a cleaner look as well.....

Skyos Beta 8.5 Better But Still Very Beta
An alternative OS+GUI, a bit like BeOS (0) Mostly for entertainment and to see whether Robert Szeleney (one-man shop) has made much progress on
it, I downloaded and installed SkyOS 5 beta 8.5 on my main basement x86, an eMachines T2958 with
add-in NVidia. I had tried 8.4 but had some issues. Fewer issues in 8.5. This is way-alternative,
far left (or right, rather) of Linux. For an early beta it's pretty slick. Looks and works a
bit like BeOS, but more current and with a custom GUI dev system (SkyGI) that beats the heck out of
X, IMHO. Sky recognized most of my hardware without trouble except no sound. The pa....
