not really. what can you do in 0.023 of a second? You can't even blink. lol  That's just journalists trying to get paid by writing an article they think magasine editors will publish

On what connection speeds did they test it on though, and how many times did they test it? I would like to know if they tested it on DSL/Cable/T3/T1, etc; or just averaged them all out. I just did a search on the same thing on Google and Yahoo and Google was 0.02 seconds faster for me and on another search it was 0.05 seconds faster. I mean this really varies by day of the week, time of day, if school is in and what not as well.

I definitly think yahoo is faster then google, I only use yahoo whenever i need to search for something, my fiance loves google though

You can't just say google is not as fast, or yahoo is not as fast. First of all, the search makes a difference. If you search for something on google its not going to have the same amount of results that yahoo will, thus affecting the load time. How much traffic there is on each search engine also makes a difference. There are many factors that can cause slowness in an SE but honestly though...who cares. Its .02 seconds faster. Are you kidding me, would anyone really choose one SE over the other because of some time like that?

0.023s time is for computer not for Human beings, you can't read read all your search results in less than 1 second

Heh. As long as both give me the results I want, I'm happy. I couldn't care less if one took up to 23 seconds longer than the other.

What realy matters is the amount of infomation and quality of it that a search engine can provide and as most of us know,google is the best on that.

Google: Results 1 - 10 of about 21,250,000,000 for a. (0.11 seconds) Yahoo: 1 - 10 of about 10,900,000,000 for a - 0.02 sec. Sure Yahoo is .09 seconds faster, but Google has almost twice as many results.

i tend to search on both as they come up with different links. I would never pick one over the other though. Google more as i use my gmail more than yahoo account these days. In fact i forward all my yahoo mail onto my gmail account. But I do like yahoo SE too!

I don't care i mean its not even 0.1 of a second, it's just unfair on google, they put all that effort into their beloved search engine and whamo yahoo comes and steals their place as the fastest search engine, but google after being online for all that time with their fancy spiders and bots they win when it comes to quantity and quality, but yahoo has speed. So back to the old saying 'Do you want to do it fast, or do you want it done right?' In my opinion google is the better search engine and it'll always be like that

What about the margin of error? how big is it? If it was about +/- .05 then it whould defeat the test wouldnt it. I think this really doesnt matter, even if it was over a second. Its not like somebody is going to decide over which of the two to use just for a small .023 second delay. You also have to consider other factors such as how many results they give you, etc.

That number probably only works if you strip away the load time for flash banners  But seriously, Google has the edge in searching quality for websites over Yahoo, but I still prefer Clusty because it allows me to not wade through as much junk as Google would. In addition there are several other factors that would contribute to the speed, including geographic location, coding quality, and amount of content.
