I find that these community sites are only good when you have friend on them. Alot of the content there is personal and it doesn't make much sense to read personal information about someone you don't know.
I'm not a big fan of the community sites either. I used yahoo 360 for a while and ended up coming to trap17 because I wanted a blog with more flexibility. I didn't really have any friends that had set up pages so it really wasn't that great. Now I run wordpress and its great. I can do whatever I want and have total control.
QUOTE I find that these community sites are only good when you have friend on them. I really like xanga.. Most of my friends have one.
Yeah, it's more of a personal thing, but that's what I like about it. None of my friends have the knowledge to make a blog or a website, so this is their alternative. My xanga is www.xanga.com/satanisagun
Yes, I like xanga. But it's for people who are still learning with HTML and stuff. If you're a really graphic experianced person and uses xanga...people might look down on your knowledge of HTML =/
The controls are easy and quite flexable, but if you want to have skins you have to get a paid version of xanga?! you can do stuff like that on livejournal.com for free! (even though you DO get to edit your headers and footers). I used xanga, but I never really updated it =/ i switched to livejournal.com because you have communities and stuff like that. My old xanga is dead so you can't view it. Sorry.
I used to have a xanga blog. Actually, it is the very first blogging host that I signed up for. I had three accounts in it because I was very fickle back then (oops! I still am fickle) and eventually I ended up abandoning all three and switched hosts because I wanted more customizable layouts and Xanga does not provide that. Another thing that made me abandon it was The ads are annoying plus only xanga members get to comment on your blog which sucks. Another thing, I was also learning to use html so I wanted a really really customizable blog without ads. I signed up for http://diaryland.com instead... Of course now I host my own blog, I use nucleus
I love xanga, honestly

Alot of the content there is personal and it doesn't make much sense to read personal information about someone you don't know. Yea... I used it for a little while... and well... laziness set in. The only reason I used it was because I had some friends that also used it. It's kinda pointless though... but it's a nice way to kill some time. I was kinda creeped out when random people started leaving comments and such. That's when I thought that I shouldn't be posting on this too often... Sheesh... It's fun to use once in a while if you have friends on it too, then you can exchange comments. However, once you realize the whole world can read it... then you might want to protect your privacy and talk to your friends in person.
First of all I actually thought that XANGA was only for asian people. But I guess not. I don't really like xanga because it mostly only allows signed up users to view others profiles or do anything.
All blogging community blogs are customizable, I just don't see the difference in this one. I reckon they are all basically the same or at least similar in some way. I've never joined and I don't really want to at the moment. Maybe in the future or something. Latest Entries
I had Xanga for a while, and I have Myspace as well as something called Livejournal. I don't use Xanga anymore, mostly because my school can't access it because of certain things that it goes against, but I only had it because my friends did and I could use it to put things down for them to read that I couldn't say in reality. Plus, I'm in a boarding school, so when their gone and something happens, I can put it there if I can't call them. I use Livejournal only for my sister and the aunt she lives with. It's my personal rant place and telling of things I don't want my friends to see necessarily unless I tell them face to face. It's also my way of staying connected with my sister since our times for phone useage don't always mesh. Myspace I use only as a way to keep in touch with various friends, and to put up some cool stuff. I'd never heard of Xanga untill last year, and I didn't use it long.
It's only fun if you have other friends who use it. Otherwise, no one comments, and you don't have anybody's xanga to read. And that'll get quite boring. It's fun as a blog, and to get to know your friends better =)
i dislike it, same as myspace. if you want to have a good looking website which you can customize and have no adds they are useless. just set up a forum, people can make custom profiles and pages and then you use the rest of the forum to chat. much better than those cheapo websites.
Lol yeah, I used to have Xanga last year, it got really boring and all my friends quit or either have Myspace so what was the point if you post about your day and no one comes and reads it?! Alot of people on Xanga that I know quit Xanga for Myspace... and Myspace is alot more active than Xanga.
I don't really like xanga even I don't have a website.With xanga,they collect a lot of personal information.that is't not good.
