I am not sure if this is what you are talking about but after doing a search I found a website that has the world's smallest AM radio which seems to meet your description.
http://members.aol.com/CITrade/radio.html Not a bad little gadget that you can use to keep updated when the power goes out and stuff. Would be nice to have as FM as well. Might be hard to find sometimes if you aren't organized like me. QUOTE QUANTITY * PRICE PER PIECE IN U.S. DOLLARS 500 - 10,000 $4.75 each FOB our UK warehouse 10,001 - 20,000 $4.50 each CIF any major airport worldwide* 20,000 or more $4.25 each CIF any major airport worldwide*
Chances are it's not FM-capable because of the power requirements; one can make a "crystal" radio that can pick up AM radio signals without a battery, but, since FM transmissions are on a higher frequency, one would need more power to pick them up; enough power that a simple battery (assuming said radio uses a battery) wouldn't provide enough power to run it (at least not for long, anyway).
As was said, this would be excellent for emergencies, but otherwise, I doubt it would be the best choice for listening to radio casually. The same could be said for a contact, a battery, or any other small thing. That's why one must make sure that it doesn't fall out.
Assuming it did, of course, one would feel/hear that it was no longer in their ear, and would then stop and look around the general area where they were currently standing/sitting/lying. Chances are they would be able to find it.
Hey! now they make them in FM too! That's the most amazing thing I've ever seen! Does anybody know when they came out with it? I might just get one of those. But I think you can only make a minimum order of fifteen dollars or more. I wonder How you have to tune it.
