I love wordpress. It's so easy to install and upgrade. If you read the instructions, you're guaranteed not to screw yourself. I also love how they make your site look professional by default, so if you have trouble with HTML code, you can just use the default layout. Finally, I love how they have extensions for it...just like firefox. That way, you can use wordpress to your liking.

i like others also have a wordpress site hosted on trap17. wordpress is great and is very easy to use. it also allows a lot of flexibility and editing features. to install it on trap17 it was very easy. only took about 5 mins and is very straight forward if you have some understanding of setting up a package site/program/blog.

ah... so trap hosted accounts DO support the wordpress program. i was having second thoughts about using it on my blog. good thing i saw this thread. i think wordpress is the best blog provider, and their features are pretty neat too. even though i have programmed my entire webpage myself, i find it very exhausting when i have the need to change themes or something. although using someone's code on my website would hurt the programmer part of me, i think it's totally fine if i wanted a cool-looking blog hosted on trap. :encore: i'm going to start once the semester ends.

I am also another user of Wordpress through trap17. My main and only purpose to get hosted on trap17 was to give my blog a home. My previous provider constantly had problems with their DNS and it was kind of pissing me off. As we all know, the key to a website's growth is its uptime and I was not prepared to wait for another month for the DNS to be completely restored.

There are many free blog services out there like Blogspot, Blogdrive, Xanga, MSN Communities and even Friendster. But what makes Wordpress stand out from the rest is its the best open-sourced publishing platform. It provides a lot of features which the blog services I mentioned do not have.

The extensibility of Wordpress is so powerful, you can change themes with ease at just a click in the Presentations menu, and also the installing of plugins is so easy, just download the files; activate them and put the necessary code into your theme, with the detailed instructions given, you can't go wrong even if you do not know any php programming or css styling.

And lets not forget there are so many developers always seeking to make Wordpress even more secure and better with their constant bug releases and its down to 2.0.4, so you can expect an endless range of dedication to this platform.

I recommend everyone to try Wordpress because this is where the blogosphere will be heading in the future, to the best publishing platform ever.

yes wordpress is great, i had second thoughts about modifying the template to resemble a regular website or to satisfy your needs and i was scared of that anormous php engine, it has over 1500 functions written in php but for a couple of weeks i started creating a template from zero and it wasn't that hard. Perhaps when i regain my points back and get some hosting here i'll post some tutorials...

- i also used extensively the wordpres codex at http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

- and some great functions refference online at redalt.com but right now the server seems to have crashed;
