I installed Wordpress 2.7 on my site, hosted by trap17, http://riotingbits.creativeriots.comEverything went ok and smooth, I installed a theme, some plugin (manually), but I saw that I can also install plugins automatically (from the Wordpress administration panel). The problem I have when I try to do this is my Connection Information. I use the same credentials as I use with FileZilla to upload things to my website, but it doesn't seem to work. So, maybe somebody here on trap has already did this and can point me to what I do wrong. The Connection Settings I use: Hostname: ftp://riotingbits.creativeriots.com (I also tried with http and with no protocol)Username: riotingb (the same as the one I log on to CPanel)Password: ****** (the same as the one I log on to CPanel)Connection Type: FTP (also tried FTPS)I also attached a print-screen with the error. Any idea? Anyone?

Hello, Could it be that you mistyped a password. I spent typing raging at the WP devs until I realized that I typed the wrong password. Another reason could be that (although unlikely here) FTP may not be installed, or fsockopen disabled. Or, if WP doesn't display errors well, then it could be a permission error. CHMOD your plugins dir (probably in wp-content dir) to 777. I hope that fixes it for you....  jimhap

I've similar problem. When i try to update the wordpress installation and click on the upgrade button. i didn't get any information from server. It returns no information in sidebar. So anyone having similar problem of not upgrading plugin/wordpress installation from within dashboard?

I have had a few problems like that either from not installing or FTP not connecting and stuff like that, just make sure you CHMOD the proper folders in order to get the automatic installation working. If your still having problems your best bet is to do it the manually way by uploading the plugins into the folder and then activating them that way.

Each one has a different set of plugins, and they all worked fine to install and upgrade them automatically. They also all upgrade Wordpress automatically with no trouble. It would seem the problem is not with Wordpress but with your settings in some way. Try changing the FTP hostname to just ftp://creativeriots.com and see if that works. The instructions Wordpress provide to do an upgrade ensure that you keep your settings. Nothing in the database is wiped, and there is a list of files and folders that you should not replace with new versions (this list is in the readme file I believe).

Hostname: localhost (don't use example.Com or ftp.Example.Com) and follow with the rest of the standard FTP info which you usually use for FTP connection.

Well I got this statement: "Note that your files all need to be owned by the user under which your Apache server executes, or you will receive a dialog box asking for "connection information," and you will find that no matter what you enter, it won't work."

I don't know what does "need to be owned by the user under which your Apache server executes" but it is clearly stated that unless we fix it we will never be able to do it automatically no matter what we do.
I hope somebody has a solution for this. I am waiting for my hosting provider to fix this but he hasn't showed up yet.

Problems With Php
(5) Recently, my system was infected by a Trojan Horse. Since then, I've been finding files missing
and now my PHP will not work, my Apache server will not display PHP files, i've tried getting

Mysql Authentication Problems

in xammp and php 5.1.1 (11) Hi, I just recently installed the latest versin of XAMMP on my computer which comes with php5.1.1
and i have been noticing some problems with the include(); funtion. This is a code that worked

Login / Authetication System Using Database
adding information (4) Is there any way to make such database where I can write like name and passwords.. Then make an
login box, and when somebody trys to acces the login he needs to write the name and password.. Then
it is verifyed if is there such name and password and if it is then acces the page.. I think there

I Need Help With Wordpress/php

(4) Well, I'm new to PHP, and I get tons of problems when I use the include tags: Let's say my
site is www.mysite.com, and the menu is www.mysite.com/menu.htm. The site I want to include menu.htm
in is not in the same folder as menu.htm, but in "folder2": www.mysite.com/folder2/index.php The
images in menu.htm are located in it's own folder: www.mysite.com/images. However, when I load
index.php with , the images won't load. Then I try to check the image location and it says that
the images that didn't load was located in www.mysite.com/folder2/images ....
Browser Problems, Maybe?
Firefox vs IE (6) Alright, I coded something the other day for the game I am working on making, and a few of my
friends I allowed to get on it and test things out. Well....the ones that were on IE their
characters were made but the User variable as in which account they were on just stayed blank, while
with my friends that were on Firefox, everything worked fine and they could play perfectly... So I
was wondering, with PHP sql codes being sent to the database, is there something special you have to
do to make it work on both, or could it be a setting on the IE that was messing with it......
