Im amazied with ''I-Pods'' If you would have told me, before they came out and said that they can hold so many songs, on such a small case thing, I would not belive you.

Now, they have I-Pods that take pictures, You know were this is going - I would guess in the next few years we will see a I-Pod, Camera, Cellphone...It may not be by Mac, Maybe some co cellphone co. Might create it....Now. Don't go spreding this around, as I have no clue if its real or not, I dident read it anywere Its just what I think will happen.

Will you buy one if something like this came out?

Yea, It would cost a ton

But I would want one!

Well since you can already play duke nukem on some phones and some other rpg's I don't think it will be long before you can play some of the more advanced rpgs. There are some newer phones that have special tv channels for that phone. Every year they get a little bit more sofisticated. Who knows knows what will come next.

well now they have th ROKR and The SLVR which all have itunes compatability, so yeah its it an iPod, Camera, Cellphone and more all in one, but they don't give you the deals where if you sign up they give u the phone its more like pay $100 get the phone then sign up. I don't think I will be buyuing one any time soon, just because it can hold 25 songs (ROKR) and my iPod can hold thousands.

I agree with the first post on this thread. It is amazing how technology is evolved like it has.
I, also, wouldn't have believed that something like an ipod would have existed a few years ago. Now though, there are all kinds of music players and walkmans available.

I feel that the ipod, camera and cellphone all in one would be available easily within the next few years. I'm sure this wouldn't be all that was included. At the rate the technology is currently improving, this is pretty basic. We'll soon have robots running around and doing our washing up and other household tasks.

The only thing that could affect how many people have these new forms of technology is cost. At first, when things first come out, shops and the manufacturers charge as much as they can in the hope that they get a lot of money from new products they've just invented.

I suppose only time will tell though. Will be interesting to see which way technology will go next.

I agree that having your interests mobile is great. but when you start using them in the car while driving, it becomes unsafe.
Technology has advance further in the last 20 years then it has in all of history.
What will happen in another 10 years? Worm hole traveling, space flights every day, etc?

Apple will make something incredible next again, but they are doomed for extinction.

I don't get an Ipod though because I would only use it when I travel long distances and for that I have my laptop so I can listen to music anyway. You really don't need that many songs held because your probably won't even listen to them each 3 times. You will pick only a few that you want to listen to but I guess it also depends on the person. I liseten to them all in order and then go back to the place I left off. I am sure that especially when the Microsoft Zune comes out Mac will come out with a camera with your Ipod to hold thousands of pictures. They already have it incorporated on cell phones so it won't be long.

I think it would be great if everything was combined into one. That way, you won't have to carry around a separate camara, cell phone, mp3 player, etc around. But the quality probably won't be as good if they're all combined into one. And yes, it would cost a ton. I'm not sure if I would buy one.

Mobile Phones that can play Mp3's are increasingly available, although I would not personally refer to them as an iPod Phone (not even the iTunes compatible ones) but they certainly allow the user to listen to digital music, hell you can even get phones that will play videos too, and I'm sure I heard about an 8GB mp3 phone a while ago, but I don't kniow any of the details of that. In my opinion convergance can only be a good thing, it increases the value of a certain product and allows for greater functionality and flexibility which are returned to the user by way of savings (in that these convergant devices are able be sold for less than the total of all the individual devices) but they are also good for the consumer in that they have increased convenience due to the fact that you have to carry less stuff. the way convergance is going I would expect to see some for of small and lightwaight multipurpose device soon. the ultra mobile PC, may be an answer to this in that they can pretty much run anything a PC can, therefore audio, video, voip, internet access, hell even solitaire all in the palm of your hands, sure if we could get this down to the size of a mobile phone that would be amazing, I would certainly buy one.

I don't like the idea of combining things. If you combine the iPod, camera, and cell phone (which has already been done), you get something that can do all 3, but not one of the features are as good as the real thing. For instance, the new cell phones can hold about 100 songs. Whoopdy-freakin' do. My iPod can hold 7,500, play a ton of videos, and hold tens of thousands of pictures. And the new cell phones also have cameras. They try to replace the need for a digital camera, when you can only take so many pictures on your 512MB phone, and you can't even take good-quality pictures with them. You just implement the basic idea of each and make them suck. To tell you the truth, I would rather have my iPod, digital camera, and cell phone as 3 seperate things, like I already do.

You have all forgotten one vital fact... The objective of the exercise is to make money.

The mobile phone industry reached its pinnacle in 2001 when the manufacturers realized there was nothing more to be done to innovate Cellular Technology. The smallest phone (a tooth implant) had been made, the smallest power plant for a phone had been made and the smallest phone could be powered indefinately from the users' central nervous system. Now these multibillion dollar giants had to find some new source of income. With 3G and 4G networks too far off for them to release that tech, they turned to their marketing departments to keep them afloat. They decided that phones would be sold by gimmick eg. hardware gimmicks such as cameras, audio players, web access tools etc. and software gimmicks like wallpaper and ringtones offered by service providers. Far from keeping the industry afloat, the manufacturers would have succeeded in making more cellphones available by 2010 than there are people on the planet. Good money for them! They ensure this by developing a concept phone, and then releasing the said phone 5~10 times in 18 months as an improved version each time touting some smart new feature. In reality, before the phone was released, the prototype carried all of these 'new' features, it just won't make as much money if released with them the first time. I call it creating your market, then milking that synthetic market.

The other issue is this. The iPod is the world's most popular MP3 player. It is however far from the first hardware MP3 player and furthermore definately not the first HDD based MP3 player. That title belongs to Creative. Yes the company that seems to be competing with apple and some consumers even go as far as saying '...that new company from Korea...' (I overheard this in a Best Buy store) is the original manufacturer of the HDD based MP3 player. The Creative Nomad Jukebox was released in June of 1999 and contained a 6GB HDD long before Apple decided to cash in.

So the convergence of the media to one device is only logical and we were capable of making this all-in-one device years ago. However, businesses need to make money and some want to make more than others so the industry places these artificial delays in to maximize the earnings that can be made from the consumer product at the expense of progress... this is the nature of our capitalist world.

I have to agree with whoever said it, that combining into one device is annoying at times. If you break the camera part then you are out of a camera, but still have an mp3 player, phone and gaming system, till one of those breaks.

It's like having an all in one fax machine, copier, scanner, coffee maker.
If one thing breaks, then you are out of all of them until it gets repaired.

The best option is to have separate items, just smaller in size so you can carry around all of them.

I bet you in a few years you can easily have a "cell phone" media center with the ability to play hours of movies, read some high tech small disk that holds like 100x more then todays dvds... and it all fits in your palm. Not to mention it will have the gaming power of like some high tech rig these days.

It's really just amazing how fast technology can develop to allow all sorts of pretty sweet stuff.

And really, it was just a matter of time until the cell phone got intergrated with media player. I mean, lets see.. first you had your cell phones, then mp3 players came along, and portable dvd/movie players... then mp3 players morphed into more media related, allowing both movies/pictures/and mp3s to be used on them... and now they are adding cell phones in... and they are working on putting in heavy duty computer power next wink.gif

Another article I did to compare IPV4 and IPV6. Ipv4 vs. Ipv6 Ipv4 is the fourth version of
Internet protocol, but the first one to be widely deployed. It uses a 32 bit addressing and allows
