you know what it s kinda imposssible to swith from windows to linux thats insane im sure you wont even be able to boot up the linux system, well myabe from linux to windows thats reasonable, but i dont see anyone going to leave the newbish user friendly windows and go to the hard core linux system .

On the contrary, there are many linux distros that are quite newbish. That statement would make a lot of sense ten years ago, but much has been done in the meantime to make linux easy to use. I don't want to be misinterpreted here: I am not saying that it must be done, but I know many people who are doing that, so I just wanted to offer a useful link.

As pr3dr49 said, there are distributions of Linux that are very easy to use, especially if you use X. Take Mandrake, for example - anyone who can move a mouse can use it.

Its more about User Perception than anything else, as Linux is stereotyped as a geek's OS. No matter how much progrees Linux made to become as user friendly as possible, the stigma of being "difficult," "hard," and "ominous" will still haunt it. And there's also the fact that so few commercial/industry-grade programs are designed for Linux, and that stymies the growth of its user share.

Well, some you can run with Wine, but a limited number. Linux is primarily a working platform. If you are into gaming, than it won't make much of a change for you. Otherwise...

Linux gives you the pride and satisfaction of having 100% control over your OS. Its a glory to have a Linux computer and the person responsible for that must much be respected. Don't look down on Linux users, they have gone through alot and they are probably 10x more skilled that you. As a matter of fact, more Linux users do away with wizards and so on, they simply install the stuff manually. Its hard and tough work. Anyway, Linux is still developing so for the computer newbies like me, we'll drown in the depth of Linux. I tried Linux before as a dual boot with my Windows XP....it worked fine but I totally did not know how to operate the software. After less that a week, I wiped Linux out. Its really hardcore computer jargon and skills. Maybe for some people, this is not the case, but atleast for me, I sux at Linux.

Thanks for the artical, right now I'm running dual operating systems (XP Pro, Mandrake 10.0). Needed a little help finding some things for specific things in Linux  and this helped!

Thats true linux does come with open office. Open office is kinda of like ms office but free. Also it comes with mozilla built in. I personally use xp, but I have a machine that runs linux and I find it to work better than xp sometimes. Running linux is also safer on the web since the mojority of websurfers are running XP hackers attack them so with linux they are less likely to attack you. Not saying that that isn't any holes in linux just there not attacked as often

Looking For Developers To Help With A Forum Software

Just a little back ground on the software. It was started back in 2005, and has been sold 2 times,

Windows Update
Is it really needed for me? (7) I am now running on Windows XP. I'm confused whether to use and install Windows Updates or not.
My friends and some local IT support said that I do not need them. But many tech site suggests them
to be installed. Here is my situation : I only use this PC to browse internet, download files,
using P2P software, play games and other activity that doesn't require internet. I never use
wireless internet, my PC is not linked to another PC (workgroup). Do I really need Windows Update at
all? Untill now, I never experienced any crash or something without those updates. ....
A Good File Explorer For Windows Xp?

Software To Remove Voice?
(9) I am looking for a free software which is able to remove a voice in a song? To just keep the tune,
something similar to the karaoke, I do know that not many songs provide only the tune for which
there isn't any singing. I have been searching for quite some time as well, but the programs I
found did not do just that. I have also read about how impossible it is to achieve with the programs
because they only filter out some frequencies and it isn't possible to filter out to the point

Windows Media Player 11 Visualization
oddly poor performance (13) My windows media player 11 has seemed to have developed a problem. Well actulally it has always been
doing this. I am running a P4 (2.8GHz with 512 ram, 64MB vram), and when I try to activate the
visualization in WMP 11 all it is horribly slow and pixelized. I would guess about 5 fps Normally I
would just accept this and keep saving for a new computer but the second that there is something
covering even part of the visualization screen, it ups it's performance. If you put a separate
window over the vis screen (even the slightest corner of a window) the performance up....

Linux Question: Amarok And File Permissions
please help, i can't get it to work with all music files (4) hey, i use to use Linux DC++ to download music from some hubs and i usually download it to
/home/downloads/ and then i move the files to my collection on another HDD a sata one, on
sda3/music/ but when i move the files using krushader root mode they become posessed by root and
amarok can't play them displaying a locker on the file's icon. I tried to " chmod 774 music
", where music is my music directory, as root in konsole but no luck. What should i do to make a
whole directory accessible from amarok as user?....

Looking for software (10) So I'm not quite ready to spend $1500 on a Boss BR-1600 Digital Recording Studio
package...and I know there are many options for recording music through the computer...my biggest

(version 4.0.18), Webmin (version 1.250) and Usermin (version 1.180). If I try to connect to the
MySQL server with the username root and no password, I get an invalid login error from Webmin,
