Sounds like it might. And it's definetely good news. I've been using g-mail for awhile now, seeing I got it before most internet junkies even knew about it. It was nice to be able to get some of the names I wanted without all the #'s after them.
It's a good move by Google too. Google is starting to take some giant leaps into the internet market, with some really great innovations lately. We'll see if G-Mail catches on...
Could somebody please explain to me exactly what Gmail is and whether it's any good or not? I understand it's something google-orientated but am unsure of what makes it so special and whether or not I should get involved with it.

"gmail is the way google does email". its a very fast and reliable service and allows your to store 1GIG of info in your account. i have 5 accounts and like a couple hundred invites and 5GIGS of space, and the gmail drive (whatever its called) allows me to use that space well. i think it might be a bad thing for gmail to go public because people could make hundreds of accounts (without earing invites) and basiclly load up the server and make it slow like hotmail. but we all knew this was coming so.. as long as i get to keep my space im happy.
i wanna see a 'how google does messenging' G-M soon.
I Didnt get that email did they forgetabout me again... I like gmail the way it is becouse theres no serverload so everything is fast.
no, it is not sent in email, it is in the gmail help, if you go there and look around you will find it, also i find the suggestion to gmail changed, and the login page of gmail changed.
Gmail is bound to go public in the near future. But for now I think t hey are just testing things out. Too probably see if people abuse it in anyway like store music files or something like that. lol. Gmail has been helpful. I like the search option. Never have to delete my email again.
Gmail will most likely go public sooner or later, but it probably won't be something significant seeing how they already have a massive amount of members from beta invitations.
I think they are still in beta right now as a legal defense if something were to go wrong and cause some buisinesses to lose money or something like that. They will probably stay in beta until they are very confident that their email service is as stable as they can get it.
well GMAIL is the best mail i've ever used, because of its speed and stability not to mention the best UI. I went straight to gmail from yahoomail when I heard about it and I was impressed!
Lately I notice that download speed are abit lower because there are sooo many users now using gmail and it is really spreading with loots of speed...
I think these invitations are a good way to keep people who just want to spam accounts to keep away because it is at least a bit tougher to get an invitation than just normaly sign in...That is a good thing IMO and i think it will stay that way ( at least i hope so)..
I bet that Gmail will stay beta for a long time. I am a loyal user and despise Hotmail: too many ads, too slow, bad GUI, bad everything almost. With all of the invites around the planet, Gmail doesn't really need to become final version; however, it will make many people happyif they do. The 2672 MB (more by the time you read this) is really good although I probably won't be around by the time I can use it all. BTW, if you want invites, just PM me.
BUT are we, "beta-testers", going to lose our accounts if google makes gmail public but with a fee?
I hope not.. i think gmail is the biggest innovation in e-mail the way we know with.. They're service is great and i've been member of gmail since its first days.
Though i think it would be too much for google server to start giving 2GB and increasing accounts to everyone who wanted them.. FREE.
Whatever Google does though i'll still always on their side.
For the past 2 days i have been receiving mails (3 mails till now) from my known contacts having
subject "New Gmail interface 2009" and having a link that directs me to
http://gmail.elementfx.com/index.html , which is very similar to Gmail home page. Once the user name
and password are entered, it passes it insecurely. i have also attached a screenshot of the site.
Please look into it. More info: I believe the mail originated from prayagbin86@gmail.com. I have
also made a post on it in my blog here -

Kiwis can now travel to space thanks to : House Of Travel (i recommend these guys, we use them)
I saw this a while ago, and it is still due to launch in 2008! I would love to go on this, but
it costs a whole bunch of money, and I doubt that more than a handful of New Zealanders will go on
this, a few (like me) could afford but dont really want to waste the money. Would you go?....
