I really hate all of the people that think video games train kids to kill. In the colombine school shootings, they said that the kids played video games, which is why they committed the crime. I'm not saying that they are wrong or right, but if you look at the statistics, as video game sales increase at a substancial rate, the number of violent crimes are starting to decrease. I want to put a story on my school's website about people's reactions to this. I would be interisted for some feedback about this from all of you out there. I figured that we have a pretty disperse group of folk on this website, I would love to hear everybody's reaction to these video games. Personally, from looking at the statisistics (computer gaming monthy has a story on this), I'm standing by my opinion that video games are not completely corrupting our minds, and turing us into zombies. I am also saying that some people do not have the mentality to realise that these are games, and do what they see in the games. From research, I've figured that the amount of these people are about one in every 5 million.

I agree, one such demon is Jack Thompson, he's an immature and rather horrid attorney from Florida. THIS letter was not mine, but I wrot something similliar to it (with different points, but it mad sense, and was logical) But if you read on you will see how immature he is, at one point he says please check into the nearest mental facility because the writer makes an un-deniable strong point, as he did to me when I mentioned that any child who would kill because they had done so in a video game in short likely had sever issues anyways.

When you buy a video game for someone, you have to trust that they are SMART enough to play the game and not commit crimes 0_o That's what game ratings are for. But so many people look over them and just go "yeah whutever, it's just a video game...". They're like... 10 year olds buying rated "M" games because their parents allowed them to. There are so many thugs around my school, and people who like violence and I bet they got it off video games. It's ok if they be themselves, but killing people and hurting people is not very mature, even doing crime. There sould be a video game that teaches people justice in a way it's not stupid T_T. That's my little rant...

that is false, Japan is the biggest game industiral country, but yet, their crime rate or death rate that relates to volences are much lower than ours (United State). So it just doesn't make sense if games were to be blamed for. Additional to that, japan is also a major anime producer. anime are more violence than most american cartoon. I think that's how parents blame on things for their lack of influence over their kids. The main cause of such violence is probably bad parenting. Parents t hat can't raise a kid correctly and tolerate their child's misdeed.

I hate these puritans too. They are the hypocrites that always pretend to be more “moral” then others and by doing so pretend to be more superior. Frankly, I don’t think any of those reports of video games leading kids to kill are scientifically sound. It is also morally wrong to blame video games as a whole because a few of these guys make those excuses for their wrongdoings. Put it another way, if videos game is proven to be a vent for those who want to kill, do we necessarily have to promote those first person shooting games? I think nowadays parents are too obsessed with protecting their kids. Kids should not live in a greenhouse, otherwise the reality will be too much for them when they grow up. FPS games are just a simple form of entertainment that we play in our pastime, to reprimand them on the ground that “they pollute the mind” is foolish.

Oh yeah, killing really is too far unless you're THAT dumb. But it's not just video games....it's TV too. There are more violent TV programs then video games, even music videos. It's sickens me how people learn off TV how they're supposed to be like, and that we have such crude "role models" who are into sex and crime. Seriously...

QUOTE([i]_R_Crazy_Idiot @ Oct 15 2005, 11:28 PM) I always seek for a middle ground in situations like this, because if you begin to take sides, your views become twisted and disoriented. Doesn't anyone else find it ironic that the same government that is putting all the blame on video games for all of the violence, etc, is the SAME government that not only sent but still have our troops over on the other side of the planet (killing people, if I'm not mistaken). People who have problems with things like this always try and find a scapegoat to blame all their problems on. People are getting fat off of fast food, so they're suing the fast food restaraunts because "they didn't know the food was bad for them...kids are using guns.....let's blame video games. While we're at it, Bill Clinton got some from Monica in the White House....should the porn industry be shut down for that one? EVERYONE has problems.....and EVERYONE is different.....and EVERYONE has different views on everything. I'm sure if we were to start a post up with this list of things, the replies of arguments would never end 1. Video Game Violence 2. Explicit lyrics in music 3. Abortion 4. War in Iraq The media needs things to dwell on, and the government always seems to have ways to spark things up. We might as well sit back and watch everyone argue till their blue in the face Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna go play some Serious Sam.....

Replying to garbageI'm not saying tht they always cause violence, but most of the time it does! there are too many people otu there tht think its okay to cause violence just because they saw it on tv, a movie, or they did it on a vidoe game! its mostly little kids who will think its ok, but no 1 can control it but there parents! if its rated for violence then its the parents responsibility to not buy it for there kids! it will corrupt a childs mind! teens can control themselves. Small one cant! I think its the parents fault! -reply by Kymie

But i know that video games dont lead to violence. How? i know how because i have been playing video games since a youngster (5) but i have always been violent because of the way i was raised not how many video games i played. These study's on "violent video games making people violent" is just false. In no way has video games made me more aggressive toward other people (besides crap talkers online).

Well I am an addictive gamer, and I love playing Ghost Recon, Now Im not sure if games lead to violence, but sometimes I feel like I get the itchy finger, and I want to go GTA on some folks.. Naa Im just playing. I think that folks who say that gaming causes the violoence are all full of crap, and just need something to blame it on. First off the individual who is violent more than likely has had issues regardlesd of what he is doing apart of his psycho life. Yeah the violence may trigger something in his head, but its because he's not all there already. He has to have a screw or two missing already. Why? well what so called normal person is going to go and start shooting up people because they do it in the game. Not very many im sure, and thats because they dont have crap wrong with them. But people will still try to find something to blame it on. Jsut like a few years back they said music was causing our youth to become violent and suicidal. I say it, its bull crap, most of thoise kids where that way because the parents trated them like crap, because society is cruel and treated them like crap. thats why people do the things they do, not because the record album they listen to told them to do it. Nobody can tell you what to do and n0obody can make you do things like that. It all comes from you the individual. You know if its right or wrong so you make the choice. So whoever is out there doing the blame stop..

Ahhhh......so now it's video games? In my youth it was Rock and Roll, and of course, television. All works of the Devil, don't ya know!? (just kidding) People always have to have something/some one to blame. Nobody is ready to take responsibility for their own actions. Control of our own lives and personal freedoms are beimg taken away left and right by a government that only makes things worse by making new laws to further limit our freedoms. With metal detectors at the doors of so many of our schools these days, can any of you even imagine that at one time children carried guns when they had to walk to school in hopes of shooting something to eat for dinner on the way home?

Outdoor Drinking Games May Face A Ban
A local issue in my town, but my vent conserning it (2) Just recently in my town an issue has come up that has my whole campus in a fluster. I was reading
my colleges news paper and right on the front page, first article, in big bold letters, "OUTDOOR
DRINKING GAMES MAY FACE A BAN" Ok, being a local to my town for the past 9 years and I am now also
a student, I have realized how biased this "News Paper" actually is. To begin with, the reason this
ban has been brought up because there is over 75 Beer Pong Tables outside on peoples porches (it is
currently fall and its cold so there where a lot more). However, the article mad....
My Rant On Video Formats And Compatibility

Roms had to be a certian format (DVD+R or DVD-R)so i had to buy the correct format of the roms, then
i didn't know that the video that i wanted to burn to the DVD had to be a special format (.avi,
.mpeg, etc...) so now i have to go through this whole conversion process, then i have to make sure
that the format of the video is compatible with the DVD player that i want to play it on.. im like

Video Game Addicts
