For basic and clean board i suggest PHPBB
For big forum with lots of modules and tools SMF is best

the super bulletin boards are vBulletin & IPB because they're easy to setup & there should be more features. wink.gif smile.gif smile.gif

vBulletin is the best because they do not offer free hosting like IPB.

Phpbb is free, but not many of good stuff that vB and IPB have. I would reccomened IPB or vB, though I have never used VB, and this site runs on IPB. So I say IPB is the best get it at InvisionPower.com, and there is a free 12hr demo of it.
