I'd have to say HTML even though it isn't as advanced as lets say, PHP or C#. Good HTML can work everywhere while others don't. I dunno..

I know what can and cannot be done using it, but dont know how lol. Learning tho..

I'd probably say PHP - very customizable, most browsers support it, can go from being simple to very modern coding-wise. So many great things you can do with it smile.gif

HTML isn't code, HTML is a markup language. XHTML isn't code, XHTML is a markup language. DHTML isn't code, DHTML is a grouping name for a markup language + a client side scripting langue + some layout technique.

Having said all that, I guess I prefer to use Java of the programming languages you've mentioned. I think it's a readable language (when written decently), and capabilities to do many nice things. And the fact that it's cross-platform is nice as well.

even though PHP is extremely popular and has many scripts etc... html would probably be the most reliable. That is in my opinion. Other than that PHP is probably the best.

HTML isn't a programming code. It is a markup language. Therefore you must be answering PHP. I would say PHP myself, very easy to learn, controlable and by far the most featured scripting language. PHP would win all other codes by far. It even won best language award in 2004. Can't argue with that.

PHP > All.

Php has to be the best, tried my hand at java but got tired of crashing my computer.

Yep. So we can't vote between this choices. The best are definitelly, C++ and PHP. But they are different kinds of scripting languages. We cannot make softwares with php, at least I don't know how to. Yet, C++ is more powerfull than PHP because you can make (almost) everything... So my vote goes to C++

Thats a good point html can be used in every field of computing i use it in web design and game design and loads more but other codes like c## are more advanced so you can get cooler results. So i don't know.

Really a lot of these aren't even in the same class of purpose.

We've got markup languages which go hand-in-hand with client and server-side scripting languages which can also function outside a web browser, in a terminal. Then we've got C# and possibly C++ by the looks of things whose purposes are programming! The poll is illogical, and so I cannot vote on it. If we had a race between XHTML and HTML, a race between PHP and Perl, a race between Javascript and other EMCIAscripts, and a race between C++ and BASIC, then it'd be logical.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I mean, why code in PHP when all you want to do is create a simple web page with the text and images?

One thing I can say for certain is that server side coding is better when you compare it with client side. For example, when trying to enhance my pages with a few tricks that cannot be done in HTML I would go for PHP rather than JavaScript. Why? It is very easy for your visitors to miss the functionality of your pages when you code client side. For example some people surf with JavaScript disabled sad.gif A portion of those people who do, don’t even know it and when they become aware of it they don’t know how to enable it, or if they should… They don’t know what JavaScript is altogether laugh.gif

For the sake of voting I will say PHP rocks. That’s because you can do any little trick you can imagine. I have been coding my keyword research tool in PHP for the past two years and I really enjoy it smile.gif

OK firstly to clear something C++ is really old and outdated language and by that it has it falls and downs but it is good programming language in global and many todays programming languages are done in it however Visual Basic is not the language which will push c++ from application programming it is rather C# and Java both in different fields.

However you must know that C++ will for certain and for long time stay the ultimate language for lower level programing because it allows more freedom then any of the languages I have mentuionde in the previous text so this is main and important thing. And you cannot just push one language out as long as this language has any meaningful importance and usefulness.

    My question is, why would anyone use the CODE tag when you can use the PRE tag? 1. The PRE tag
