| | I dunno what I would do, maybe I would just do nothing. But one thing I'm sure: if there was no internet, we all would be muuuch more healthy ahahhaahaah I mean, I would play more soccer or walking, we wouldn't sit for hours looking at a bright box (what is not good for your eyes by the way). But I'm happy internet exists because this is the only way I can practice english language (isn't my english good? oh now you know this isn't my first language). That's it |

Well if there were no iPods, I'd go back to the next best thing (of it's time, surely not now): CD Players. So if there were no internet, the next best thing is television, so I'd switch back to that. *shudders at the thought*

I'd pretty much do the same thing as the previous poster, or I might just re-invent the internet. It would have to exist sooner or later with people like Bill Gates around.

Without the Internet, I'd go out, play footy, play with my mates. Be more active. Just, Just it would turn my life around and My Mates won't call me a computer 'nerd'. Even though I'm not.

If there was no internet I would probably be outside right now walking around or most likely taking a nap and watching a bit of TV, or just hanging with friends

Yeah, when I think of it. I'm addicted to the internet, and I think we all are. We can't live without it. If I didn't have internet I guess I would be outside playing umh.. football and being with friends etc ..

Actually, AFTER COMPLEX PERSONAL MEDITATION, my opinion has become this: if the internet were to combust somehow, the world would scream and cry and fuss for about thirty years before someone comes up with the monumental idea of the "NEW TELEGRAPH". It's not copyright infringement because it's new. Also, without Morse Code, we would be putting countless penguins in danger (the movie Happy Feet displays their necessity for beats and rhythm to communicate). So if someone was heartless enough to sever all the network cables of the world and challenge Wi-Fi to a FINAL BATTLE OH NOEZ, that would be the result. Mute penguins and sadness all around

Just moments ago ,i read a topic reading "Can we possibly destroy the internet ??" And here we have another interesting topic.. "What do we do without internet" ? I guess, we would not be dicussing this question here, at the first place !!! I think the core idea about internet is information. People are probably aware of soooooo many things these days ,because of the internet. Even Google ,has become so popular, as it took an initiative to serve the information on the internet to its users ,in an effective way. That has made Google achieve goals, which are paramount.. Whatever i need in my every day life, i just google it. Be it my assignments, or a word, i do not know the meaning of , i am just a google hit away from my answers . And another great thing about using it is communication. I do not see any form of communication , as cheap and as effective as the internet . I call free to people across the globe free of cost !!! The VOIP has made wonders in an average internet user's life. How high can we rate this technology ?? You can speak for hours with your friends at some other country without even spending a single penny !!! We are really lucky to have such seriously damn good technology around us !! But i also do sometimes think that technology could also be the bane of mankind.. Basically ,internet made me lazy. I used to play outdoor most of my life ,until i got internet. The versatility of Internet has glued me to my computer most of the time i am at home. Maybe , we all would have been having very little to study and research about. And also, without internet , there might have been a different and better technology to connect people with information .. We could go on imagining, but personally, i think i would miss Internet badly,if it was'nt there .

I've often asked myself that same question, since pretty much my entire day consists of me doing stuff online. And I couldn't even comprehend what it would be like without the Internet, even though there was a time in my life, where we didn't have the Internet. So much of my everyday life is online, and what isn't, is still on the computer... so it would be a HUGE culture shock for me not to have an Internet to work and play on. I was thinking, if I wasn't working online, maybe I'd like to be an archeologist. I'm not sure the full gist of what they do, but it always interested me, so I would concider looking into that a little further. Plus, I've wanted to be a criminalist for a while now, but I'm not quite sure I have the non-gag reflex that would be needed for that, so I'm not sure if that's quite my speed lol... If computers were still around without the internet, or some kind of gaming system, I think I might have looked into how to create games. I did a little digging before on that, but really haven't looked deep enough into it to see if it's something that would hold my interest long. But I'm sure that it may be able to, since I enjoy computers and coding and that sort of thing. I suppose, I could still be a writer without the internet. Most of what I sell writing-wise is online, but I don't think that it's all that different from doing it completely offline. Plus, I'd probably read a lot more books, cause I find myself often with my nose to the screen reading something or other. Yea, come to think of it, there's a ton of things that I couldn't do without the online world. But I'd never get to meet people from everywhere unless I got out of my computer chair and travelled the world... which would probably happen, if I wasn't so tied to this lovely piece of technology. So yea... it's actually a lot more easy to comprehend than I expected, now that I've actually taken the time to sit here and think about it, and get my thoughts written out.

Is It Possible To Destroy The Internet?
(99) I have always wondered if it is impossible to destroy the internet all together... is this even
possible? If it is possible to destroy the internet what would you have to do? Would you have to

Just think, if someone took down the entire internet not only would our lives be boring but it would
basically destroy the U.S. & other big countries all at once.....

Skype Rule
Talk for free on the internet (7) This has been available for a while, but I only recently. This is a Voice over IP program that
allows you to talk to anyone on the internet anywhere provided they have the same program. The
software is free. The real amazing thing is the new feature you can now have real phone number. That
means someone can call you from a normal landline and you can call other landline numbers. They have
also just added the live video software also for free, so if you have a web cam you can see the
other person. I know, I know it is not all that new, but this is the first software that ....

Broadband In Gas
Carrying internet over gas pipelines (5) I recently read about a company called Nethercomm that is promoting a broadband in gas technology.
Apparently, this company has some patents pending on devices that can be installed in gas pipelines
that go to commercial and residential buildings to provide the "last mile" connection for broadband.
It appears the technology is based on radio frequencies propogated down the gas pipe as a wave
guide. Nethercomm boasts data rates up to 40 Mbps are possible to the home. Anyone know of any
actual implementation/trials of this technology going on presently?....
Internet Telephony - Any Experiences?
(10) I was wondering if anybody had any experience with internet telephony or voIP. I've tried Skype
with mixed results, and recently read an article about a number of fairly large companies who have
adopted it as a money saving venture. In the UK BT announced yesterday a new phone service whereby
when you take your phone outside your home it uses the Vodafone network, and when you use it at home
it automatically uses voIP over bradband. Sounds interesting.......

Internet Explorer.... With Tabs!
(22) Yes, it’s finally true. Stuck on like a big band aid, courtesy of MSN Toolbar 1.2, we have IE with
tabs. Well ahead of the release of Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft has done what they just absolutely
needed to do, and have provided tabbed browsing for Internet Explorer. Things are fairly undeveloped
at this stage, but reports talk about it running fast and supporting most features you'd want.

Microsoft Confirmed IE7 Compatible with XP and newer
Internet Explorer 7 only for XP (26) Micrsoft confirmed what we've already expected. The new-coming explorer IE 7 will only be
compatible with windows XP and newer. The two reasons why old dinosaurs that still use Windows 2000
and lower won't be able to use the new IE are: 1. state in which is the extended support of
Windows 2000 and 2. mostly of technical nature (IE 7 is goin to have a few security updates and
imporvements, which bases on the functionality of the new XP SP2 and this is the reason for its
incompatibility with other versions of Windows) Source: Slashdot ....
Voip(voice Over Internet Protocol)
real money saver (16) VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the communication technology of the future for sure. Legacy
technology carries voice signals over analog circuits and lines. Voice over IP converts the analog
signal to digital and transports the signal to the receiver where it is converted back from digital
to analog and the receiver hears the sender's voice. This provides a more efficient and
economical means of communication. I have know VOIP for quite a some time since i started online.
Most of the time i use msn messeger or yahoo messeger to chat with my friends. Recently,....
