I've been trying out the various Linux versions and they are fun. There is tremendous power at your fingertips, its just learning it all if you have the time. I am getting more comfortable with Linux all the time. I like XP and Vista. For people who do not want all the extra challenge of learning an operating system they are the way to go.

I am using both linux Enterprises and windows, but what are the requirements of your being a computer, if you like to work on computer for friendly environment with games than windows is the best if you are programmer, or network administrator i prefer you Linux because it is the best one. Thanks

im using both OS too. i use SUSE - Linux when i want to connect to internet. i use WinXP because SOftwares and Games were usually developed for windows. i think both OS has pro and cons. for eg; there are lot of viruses wrote to attack WinOS, and WinOS is not secure enough. For linux, it is hard to fixed my hardware driver especially my USB wireless. i've tried ndiswrapper but it seem like it can't work properly. but i support the Linux sentiment - Free Software..

I actually dont have a preference. They both are good for cerain tasks and thus one should be proficient in both. With mac's now able to run windows, it will be more beneficial to learn linux and windows so that you can utilize the graphical stuff apples can do (and understand how it works in the background) and then also be able to play games, etc in windows which you also probably will be using in the business field.

Tricky one. Linux has by the years as GPL, developed software similair to windows, so the talk about choosing Windows instead Linux because the major benifits by using windows, is not a fair reason. Linux is sweet using it as a webserver, and because it's a GPL OS there's alot of updates and stuff for it. But the hard part is if you are new to computers and don't know mush about how to install programs in Linux, it could be a very hard OS to grasp. And as Windows is "put-in-CD/DVD" and install-os, Linux is not. It demands some degree of skill to get programs to work properly. So If you want to install linux, get as much info on how to do things before you start installing it. Because alot of things can go wrong if you don't do it right.

depends... to basic users, and to use simple resources I prefer Windows... to some servers application, linux is better... but if you are new user, windows are easier to learn.

I'm currently using windows vista on this computer. Sure, it's pretty and makes loverly sounds and fireworks and stuff...but...Only having 1gig RAM kind of makes it...icky... I'm probably going to put xp on it soon, and then put ubuntu on my old computer.

if ur a windows user, and wanna try an easy to get/use linux without
installing ANYTHING on ur hard drive, i suggest KNOPPIX, you burn it on to a 700 MB CD, u boot ur
computer from the cd, and it autodetects ur hardware, and ur good to go! even go online if u have
DSL or higher! (not sure about diel up...) it starts u off in KDE desktop (yes windows users, you
don't have to use just one type of desktop!)
