Deadly blue screens? Kernel Panic? As far as i know it, all OS have problems. Linux is well known for it stability and security features, on the other hand window is a fully functional, very user friendly operating system, both comes in many flavours, choose the one you like. But if you are a heavy windows user you will find that you have many problems with it. If you work in datacentres you will always need to patch the windows update now and then. Majour jobs will be all done in the night, else administrator for linux can stay at home and relax while those windows admintrator do the patching. There's always a price when things are too good... Virus, Spyware and many adwares targets windows users, when the time you get to know it.... *BLEEP* already happend.....haha!

Linux is not same with windows. Windows is for the home new user. Linux will be used by more advanced users.
It's harder to use and install and u will need knowledge.
I use dual boot with Win XPSP1 and Suse 9.2.
I hope i get longhorn soon.

Isn't Microsoft saying that Longhorn is still a long way off?
I prefer Linux to Microsoft. I run Red Hat 9 on my home server and dual boot Fedora Core and Windows XP on my non-Mac. (Both Fedora and Windows have been skinned to look almost exactly like my Mac).
If you are going to switch to linux I'd suggest Fedora Core. Get it in at a bookstore in the Official Compainion to Fedora book. I've found the book helpful for making the switch and the installer for Fedora is nice and user-friendly.
However, in the end the difference between windows and Linux comes down to if you hate wizards or config files more.

im gonna bet longhorn is gonna rule linux.
face it. windows is much more wanted in general and with longhorn it will only increase.
i also believe that longhorn is going to much as fastand reliable as linux or even more.
also linux is bill gates wanabe. bill gates rules evryone. im his bigest fan.
without bill gates there woulndt even be linux or even a computer thats as fast as it is now.
without bill gates the internet woulndt probally even be here

How Make Windows Not Remember The Recent Documents
(0) I searched a lot on google and this is what I got. QUOTE If you have XP Pro, run gpedit.msc,
under User Config expand Admin Template > click Startmenu and Taskbar and midway through that list
has 2 options: Do not keep history of recently opened documents and Clear history of recently opened
documents on exit. If you enable the first option, the only side effect is that in Office, its list

Best Anti-spyware For Windows Xp
(1) I've read back a few posts with interest and have noted most of the discussion on security is
about anti-virus software. However although I have had problems with viruses in the past most
problems on my computer (and many others, I suspect) are now caused by spyware that are not detected
by anti-virus progs. I'm currently using an older version of windows but will soon be getting a
new computer with windows xp. I've been experimenting on my current computer with a number of
trial anti-spyware packages (there seem to be very many of them). These include: spy....

Linux on Ipod ?
(2) Overview
Unfortunately, Apple considers the iPod a "closed platform", so technical info is
basically non-existant. This project has involved a fair amount of guesswork, reverse-engineering
and experimentation, resulting in a Linux kernel based on the uClinux (http://www.uclinux.org) port
running on the iPod. We hope that this port of Linux to the iPod inspires others to see what their
"closed platform" hardware can do!
Due to the highly collaborative nature of this project, we
decided to use a WIKI for our documentation. Its goal is to provide a strong structure of....

Easy linux (good for windows users)
(27) i really don't see a differnce, except that windows is evil and EXTREAMLY UNSTABLE!, but i'm talking
about ease of use!
if ur a windows user, and wanna try an easy to get/use linux without
installing ANYTHING on ur hard drive, i suggest KNOPPIX, you burn it on to a 700 MB CD, u boot ur
computer from the cd, and it autodetects ur hardware, and ur good to go! even go online if u have
DSL or higher! (not sure about diel up...) it starts u off in KDE desktop (yes windows users, you
don't have to use just one type of desktop!)
What is KNOPPIX®?
KNOPPIX is a bootable CD....
