He is asking what to use,not wad u all are running.Linux is a little more powerful and has a GUI,X Windows.It's not exactly safe,but because most virus attacks are targeted at Windows,Linux is seen as safe.There are not much programs for linux....But on the plus side,you can run something like Windows for free!Use Centos with it's built in X Windows system...But u wouldn't be able to run most windows programs

Linux is hard because you alredy know windows.
If you are new to both OS', it doesn't really matter, they are equally hard.
But if you start with linux, you have a pretty good chance of becoming happy and content with it.

if ur a windows user, and wanna try an easy to get/use linux without
installing ANYTHING on ur hard drive, i suggest KNOPPIX, you burn it on to a 700 MB CD, u boot ur
computer from the cd, and it autodetects ur hardware, and ur good to go! even go online if u have
DSL or higher! (not sure about diel up...) it starts u off in KDE desktop (yes windows users, you
don't have to use just one type of desktop!)
