A few days ago, when I tried to access www.realwebtalk.com, I only saw an Apache file browser index page containing only 3 semi empty folders - aka - no forum. Now it's completely inaccessible! Can't even ping it anymore!
Does anybody know what happened to this site and will it’s admin be ready to reopen it ever again?

For all of those who do not know what realwebtalk.com is, it's a free domain name forum - you post and earn points, and when you gather enough of them, you get your domain name.

If this site never reappears again, then there's nothing left for me to do than to say goodbye to my 200+ points that I have earned so far

*takes deep breath*
There's no such thing as a free lunch, I guess... I was also lucky to stumble upon Trap17, and the only reason why I trusted it is because of lots of reminder messages pointing out that Trap17.com will never leave it's users in the dark. This appears to be true so far... So, take my advice, double check every "free" service before you use it!

hm...that's the same for me when i tried to acess the site...i guess it's either going on hiatus without notice, or the admin just doesn't wanna run it any more....

it's like the other free domain for post forums, they always seem to go on hiatus...

hey, have you ever tried http://hostbidder.com? you can get a free domain more easily there =P

Nope, haven't tried it yet... But thanks for the link though, I just might do that! However, it's still very disgusting for me to be posting at a completely new community for the purpose of earning points when I just lost 200 at another one (at realwebtalk.com, it's 1 post = 2 points)... :

I just don't trust these sites anymore , but I will keep an eye out for this one...

They might have been hacked or lost all of their money. They might have spent to much money without making much, afterall they were giving away things for free they had to buy themselves. If they were hacked though I am sure you would have found out by now. Don't worry. I don't think Trap17 is going down anytime in the future at all. We would find out before hand if it were going to and we could help support it to keep it from going down.

Yes, but they were using Google AdSense advertising on their site, and they were surely getting at least some earnings from them! They actually gave out 2-3 .info domains and I'm not sure if they even gave away a .com/.net/.org domain at all!

You're right about Trap17, there are many people around (including myself) that are willing to support it no matter what! But it seems like we are already doing enough by just posting, after all, just look at Trap17.net, or Astahost! Indeed, Trap17 is expanding rapidly!

Yeah, i didn't check much on webtalk or any other forum lately because i was too busy working on my own forum. which i failed because no one has yet joined and be active =P. I just upgrade the forum to smf 1.1 RC2. =P.. Ok back to the topic.

So ..... last year.. HAHAA. yeah last night.. (still new year here for us.). i tried to check realwebtalk ... and the page could be found. I thought it was some error with the database because it happaned quite a few times already. This morning i checked it again. .And it still the same. Until i see this post, i was still thinking that the server is down for awhile.

Actually, i think they got banned from google adsense or something, because they stopped showing it. And whatever the new ads service they used probably didn't make enough money for them to support the site.

I should have just sticked with a .info domain =(.. 250points gone to waste.. .. .that's like 120 posts i made =(... spent all those time when i could post it on other forum to get more credits =(... sad....

I guess the reason why i' msticking with trap17 is because it's more stable than other even though they might offer some really nice deals on their service, but there isn't anypoint to it if they don't last..

Actually they seem to be a very large forum! However, I noticed that I couldn't access my bookmarked thread... Not found...? They were probably hacked.... (Bad password? lol)

Nah... It's been 7-8 days since they have gone offline. I'm sure that you won't find any bookmarked threads anytime soon. Bummer...

Its back on now, Realwebtalk is back and its rocking more then ever.

THe reason it was down was due to its hosting ditching it. A total fraud by the host left the site stranded as its server had gone down.

I just recieved an email from the admistration stating the reason it was down.
