| | well, simply put, a FEDEX furniture is a furniture made up of empty fedex boxes! if you have them lying around, you can have a fully-functional couch, a dining table, chairs, desks, even a bed! http://fedexfurniture.com/
blueprints/design specs are not yet available, but perhaps we can all incessantly request the fedexguy who made these furniture to hurry up with them. |

the site is currently unavalible. But I do know what you are talking about. I saw a show on television once where they showed this guy who had figured out how to make all sorts of furniture out of cardboard boxes. He made a lounge chair- I don't even think he used tape. I believe he even started a company where you can buy some cardboard and the plans for various things.

Ha ha and you thought FedEX was only good for delivering packages. Now they've got their own line of home furnishings!

update: the site is back up, but for how long this time, that is the BIG question mark. apparently the site has gained the attention of the fedex lawyers who wanted to shut the site down, so it was down for weeks. here's a WIRED article on the brouhaha the lawyers raised: Furniture Causes FedEx Fitshttp://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,6...tw=wn_tophead_2

Talk about creativity! That web page is proof that there's more to Fedex than just packaging and delivery...Don't have any furniture for your home? No worries - Fedex comes to the rescue!

That is awsome. I wish I had that much spair time! If that guy does get sued he could just use normal boxes no harm in that.

I remember reading about this somewhere, hmmm. Pretty cool idea, although I don't know how comfortable the furniture could possibly be. I wonder if he'll end up being shut down.

I just read the letters back and forth from FedEx and the Stanford legal folks. Pretty good read, there's some great arguing. The furniture is great. At my college apartment we managed to construct an armchair out of empty beer cases, in a similar feat of poverty.

LOL, Fed-Ex boxes are tough, I have a classmate whose brother works at a Fed-Ex here in the Philippines and they actually use those boxex as tables for televisions and small stuff. But using those boxes as furniture-like things is cool. the only problem now is how to acquire all those amount of fedEx boxes, like for the bed -you have to use 44 FedEx boxes and 27, tubes, and 38 paddedpacks. unless you tell the whole community to donate their fed-ex boxes to you. hehehe

Thanks for showing us this. I think its great! The furniture is funny. I can not believe that FedEx is suing him over the name though. He is not trying to profit from it. He is just using it for furniture. He got a matress for free but that don't pay the bills. You would think that FedEx would like all the free advertising it is getting whenever the media does a story on him. For heavens sake if anyone else wants to make furniture they could profit from the purchases of their boxes and packing materials. LOL Beth
