I'm using a wide-screen DELL notebook...
The resolution is weird and does not follow the 3:4 standard..

Here is it..
1280 x 800
32 bit colors

Anything deeper will make my eyes hurt...

I'm on a 1024 x 768 (16 bit) resolution on my Samsung LCD (SyncMaster 510m).

I guess LCD monitors don't function well on a resolution lower than that, do they?

I'm running on 1280x1024 with 32 bit color on a 17" TFT monitor.
When you start at that res. it's a bit tiny but after a while you get used to it.

On A TFT you can set a higher resolution then on a CRT because the image is more stable.
I'm using the same res. 1280x1024 on a 19" CRT, it's a bit bigger, but the the TFT is more stable.
The refresh rate on my CRT is 85 Hz, on a TFT you don't see much difference (maybe if you are playing games ? ).

I'm running on 1152x864 with 32 bit color (16 bit sometime when I want my pc to run faster). I think I will increase more if I can because I set frequency to 75Hz, if I use resolution more than 1152x864 the frequency that my monitor can be supported will not reach to 75Hz and downed to 60Hz, 60Hz make me hurt my eyes when sitting in front of my PC for a long time but 75Hz not, it's the reason that I use 1152x864 resolution.

I run 1920 x 1200 on my laptop screen while also using a lcd monitor at 1024x768 at the same time with 32-bit color

    Anybody heard of Project Looking Glass? It is a 3D Desktop environment from Sun Microsystems. It is
    amazing. I have tried out a few 3D environments in the past and wasn't impressed but this looks
    promising. It is an open-source project :) that will be available for Linux and Solaris systems.
    It will obviously built with Java technology. There isn't much information about the project but
    here is a link to the projects site. There are some screenshots and a video that is quite
