QUOTE Command & Conquer (often abbreviated as C&C or CNC) is a video game franchise, mostly of the real-time strategy style as well as two first-person shooter games based on the former.[1]The Command & Conquer series was initially developed by Westwood Studios between 1995 and 2003, with development being taken over by Electronic Arts with the liquidation of Westwood Studios in 2003. It's basically a RTS series.
I recommend Red Alert 2 and its expansion pack, Yuri's Revenge. I haven't played Tiberium Wars, but i'm not a fan of RTSs that try to make it as 3D as possible. Red Alert 2 is one of the best (if not the best) Command and Conquer games. Careful with multiplayer, though; people tend to play at the highest game speed—ruins the fun.
I concur, I like playing it slow, building up. Theres way to much rushing etc and stuff, not anyway in my taste. Thats why I avoid offline, my favourite is Red Alert (1) with all the Expansion Packs. 3 isnt bad either
RedAlert2 is cool among the series. The C&C series shines among other RTS because it's fast-paced. There is only one resource to gather and there is no worker unit.
EA published a special editon called "First Decade". It contains 10 C&C games. I liked the Generals most. It has a worker unit type but still fast enough. I liked Generals more because I think it has more strategic value than RA2 (of course you need to limit the super weapons)
A large difference between the Command & Conquer series (even though Generals is quite similar to the Blizzard-type RTS game franchises such as Warcraft and Starcraft) is that it has literally no unit limit, meaning you can construct an ultra large force (not too big or your computer will go kaput when it attempts to run all the units' commands at the same time, resulting in a fatal error mostly).
As the previous posters have mentioned, the Command & Conquer series is extremely fast paced. When you have specialised units attacking a unit they are rather effective against (an example of this is the Dragon Tank vs an infantry occupied Civilian Structure [does not apply to bunkers]. The Dragon Tank would annihilate all infantry inside the building once a bit of it's flames manage to reach the building itself in an instant), you will find that the units will die extremely quickly, making micromanagement more difficult in the Command & Conquer series than in say, Starcraft and its expansion Brood War (an RTS created by Blizzard).
