| | Made a new site recently? Want to know which tag will work (show up correctly) in which browser (Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.0+, Opera 8)? Well, the Web Browsers Standards Support reference is what you need. Not only can it tell you which tags are supported on the three browsers, but it also tells you which CSS property is supported, which print property, and which voice property is supported. Definately worth a bookmark.

Thanks for this link!. I'm sure it will come in handy especially with that pesky Firefox getting so popular! You know what would be great, is an HTML editor that can check for browser compatibility and highlight areas that are incorrect. I use Dreamweaver. It will catch my major HTML boo-boos, but that's about it.

You know what would be even better to help, if all browsers just displayed everything the same. Life is such a competion these days.

QUOTE(tuddy @ Aug 2 2005, 02:33 PM) You know what would be even better to help, if all browsers just displayed everything the same. Life is such a competion these days. That's what the standards are for: if everyone complies by them, then all sites should look the same. The problem is that you have companies like Microsoft which creates its own standards in an attempt to squeeze others out of the market.

well since i started web desighning i've always used internet explore (why?) well when i first

Google Not Standards Compliant

Ok, just out of curiosity I ran Google through the w3c validator to see if the coders wrote valid
code. I found out that Google had 50 errors. One of them was no DOCTYPE! I was surprised that
Google has sloppy coders like that. It's not just the fact that it is a big company that
generates millions of dollars, but the fact they have created one of the greatest search engines and
can't even code correct HTML. The code looks extremely messy. Here is a link to the validation

Ok I just got the newest development build of BonEcho and, maybe it's just me, but I don't
remember seeing this in Firefox anywhere. BonEcho now has a spell check built into it? If I am

Browser Based Proxy

So, being in school, and known as the nerd, I often hear "Dude, get me onto Myspace!". Most of
the time I just say no, but if I can install a proxy directly into my site and allow students to go
around proxies simply by going to my site and typing a web site into a text box and clicking
"Go!" I can't even imagine the amount of traffic I'd get. So, my question is, how hard
is this? Any codes some one can supply?...
"un-supported Browser" Message

Boy, this is a new one for me. I know enough about the Web to know that it is possible to detect the
Browser which is being used to call a page, and I know that there are differences between Browsers.
I also don't think this is right, but has anyone else ever seen the situation I am about to
describe? Cruising the Net. Click on a link. The Browser does its thing and an error message pops
up to say "Sorry, your browser is no longer supported by Micro$oft, so you can't view this
page. " Now, I could understand if it was a Micro$oft site or a techy styl...
