Hi all, I need some help to find a way to speed up my Internet Explorer Page downloads. I have been told that I can use a Web Accelator, but I dont know where to look or find one. And to be completly honest I have no idea what I am really looking for but with what I have already said at the start.

Hey dude, you can try searching on google for Web Accelator.
Anyway, I would recommend Opera browser for surfing webpages as it loads pages faster then any other browser. It is said to be the fastest browser on earth. It is also Free but supported with small adds. To remove these adds, you got to pay a little.

You can also try google web accelerator. This program caches pages so it does not have to reload again. It also downloads new pages at the quickest possible time.
Free but in beta test period.

Thanks for the advice. I will give them a try and hope that they will do what I want them to. I have heard about the google one before and told that it was no good and I couldn't find a download link for it. But I will give it a go and see what happens.

Thanks again.

Anyway, you have to know that this program will spend more space on your drive. It makes faster surfing because it saves memory in caché, so if you donīt have a HDD with some free space I suppose itīs not a good option.

But I havenīt proved it... tell me if Iīm right. And in this case, how much space does it need? Thanks smile.gif

i dont think web accelerators really accelerate transfers ... what the really do is to save the websites that you visit the most in your hard drive ... so the next time you visit the website some parts of the website are already in your hard disk and theres no need to wait for the transfer ....

a suggestion i can give you is to configurate your FireFox, if you use firefox ... or if not download it and try it ...

i found this config is this forum but i really dont remmember where tongue.gif sorry ... and if this is someones post all the credit is for you

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed up Firefox:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

  * network.http.pipelining
  * network.http.proxy.pipelining
  * network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

  * Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
  * Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
  * Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30.

This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

there you have ... try it ... as it said ... it will work better if you have broadband

i can second that, that they don't really do anything for you. i never noticed a speed increase after installing several of these accelerator programs. but the pipelining thing has worked on occasion for me. other times nothing happened, but at least on a few computers it made a noticeable difference.

If you really want a very good web accelerator, here is the best one for me :

- TCP OPTIMIZER

TCP Optimizers or web accelerators do not only accelerate an internet connection, they do so much more things.

If you want to buy a very good comercial web accelerator for you to optimize yourself your tcp settings or in an automatically way, i use this one:

Webroot Accelerate

I currently use the Google Web Accelerator. It stores pages on the computer so the browser doesn't have to download as much of that website..., which means that the page will be displayed faster. smile.gif

You can find it here
