I really enjoy games like The Sims where I can control the environment and what the people do. Its kind of freaky though how sometimes my own life correlates with that game a little too much. Just like the Sims or any other simulator game I have a certain amount of freedom to do what I want. But every once in a while I feel like I am being forced into circumstances that I can not stand or seemingly have no control over. It sometimes feels like I am being directed what to do. Sometimes I wonder just how much of our lives do we really have control over. There is so much in our environment and lives that has an influence on what we do, say and act on. I occasionally wonder if we are a bunch of pawns on someones chess board. LOL I am not sure if anyone else remembers the movie Tron? Well that was a movie about people who were forced to live a game while someone else was controlling them and did not know it. Freaking amazing concept for the time. I was very facinated by the idea. There have been other movies that have used games as a way to control people's lives. Last Starfighter used a video game to find the last starfighter pilot to save the world lol. Anything that involves the possibility of someone or something else controling us facinates me. I think that the Sims is very much the closest to that feeling most people get sometimes. Its weird really how we can be controlled by outside influences. LOL

Sometimes it does feel like that, but I think we usually have a choice. If your friend says, "do you want to ride this ride?" and you know that you will puke, you say no. You have a lot of choices, but sometimes those choices can result in an unexpected event. So after you say no to the coaster, you may bump into a trash can and fall into it. So I think we have choices at some points, but our choices can lead to more choices or events that were meant to happen. I hope that makes sense.

Well, if someone's controlling my life like The Sims, it must be a pretty boring game, since all I do is sit on the computer all day long. I don't think that live is a video game, hologram, dream, etc.

I dont know if this is the right question, how about if we were to ask "are we living a dream?". We all know the saying "life is too short", maybe thats because it only lasts 1 night, every day we wake up somewhere else, as someone different and live a day the lenght of a lifetime, ready to go to bed and dream someone elses life, that'd be awsome!

Well, if you believe in God that ties in pretty well to this. In that case there is a spiritual battle going on all around us where Satan is trying to maintain his hold on us through all his worldly powers as God tries to draw us to Him and the purpose of a relationship with Him for which we were initially created. What's more, it makes this world and this life nothing more then a testing ground for the true realities, to see which of the 2 eternal realms we will inhabit, one with God or one apart from Him. Look around, are there ironies in life to the point that they can't be explained away as mere coincidence? And if so, when and why did they start appearing? As for the idea of waking up every day as someone else, how then does memory tie into that? And what about when we stay away for more then a full day? You could always test that theory and stay awake longer tonight.

Well it's a thought and noone can say whether or not it is what the universe really is, although if life really was a dream, why are there such physical constraints as there are? If it were a dream, wouldn't the possibilities be limitless?

Heh, I've actually thought about something quite similar to what you seem to have been thinking about. Actually it's a bit different.. The way you seem to be picturing it someone, something, or some people (or some things, I suppose =p) are actually controlling you. I sort of changed it, as the thing that I used to think about is us being a part of another person's dream. So we're being controlled by a person's subconcious. He/she/it has some sort of choice as to what happens, in a general fashion, but it's also out of control of the person controlling. And then, if the idea I have is true, that would mean that the person dreaming us probably lives in another society and/or population. What about that? Is he living in someone else's dream as well? The subconcious of someone who is the sobconcious of someone else... Weird. Yet, in a way, quite cool. I'm loving this. And then what happens when the person wakes up? I always imaged, as a kid, that when the person is awake we are asleep. But then, what about the person he's being dreamed by? And what about us, compared to that person? Kind of a scary thought, isn't it? I <3 infinite possibilities... Hehe.

I've actually thought about this quite a lot... to be honest, sometimes I start to think that this whole world is a massive RPG. But you know why I don't believe this is true? - No Respawning
- No known glitches
- The world never "lags"
- The graphics technology required to power such a realistic simulation would have to be more powerful then almost anything in the universe. Especially when you consider it is not just "our world" that exists.
However, there is some truth as to this matter of us being controlled like a Sims game: A group of Scientists have recently tried to prove the belief that we all have free will. However, they are so far unable to prove it, due to the discovery that the mind makes decisions seconds before we are conscious of our decisions.

Well accuallty i have something to tell you, the question was are we living in a game. what if this wasn't a game, but reletivity it looks as if it is or was. Now the facts consider what if this game was being ran by a different race... like aliens. than your Online gaming wouldn't be available. and glitching is very possible. Birth defects, chemical reactions, etc. Not the ordinary kind but yes things that arent supposed to happen in out minds that is. What if i told you there was a new world order that controlled everything, and were are sacrifices for its pitiful game? would you believe me, probably not. But rationally this is most likely true, but can we prove it? No we can't and thats the sad part of this philosophy.

Sometimes I feel like that like ive always wondered if we really were living a game. Because ever since the sims came out my life has felt like a game.Like how you have things in your life that feel like someone told it to happen or you only have certin control over your decisions.

QUOTE(csp4.0 @ Sep 11 2007, 05:49 AM) Has anyone seen the stargate atlantis episode "The Game" well if you haven't here is some info on how this episode fits in with this topic The ancients built satellites that relay "Information" to these recievers so that they could tell the people what to do, this was done as social experiment to see which way creates a technological race first. The controllers were called "The Oracle" that would give the people commends on what to do. Now lets modify this a bit What if the "Oracle" is lets just say God? well instead of giving us direct commands through a interface device, what if he/she influences us through ways we don't understand. And we might be forced to fight against another "Oracle" or a "Thing" that is trying to let us know that we are being controlled indirectly by something through a nueral link? But what is the interface device? A black hole or something else? If there is a Oracle, he/she should be a common mankind. In that way, story could be continue.

Living On Mars
Is It Possible (17) If the next trip to mars that NASA do they should take up lots and lots of green house gasses. The
green house gasses would create an atmostphere on mars and this would also keep heat in. Then NASA
should take lots of plants to mars so that they can turn the vast amounts of carbon dioxide to
oxygen so human beings can breath. Once the plants have created oxygen take water up and humans will

Easier Way Of Living By Using Power Off Grid

idea, the very first one in this forum as a matter of fact. I have always been interested in off
grid power supplies, I even researched it. I think we should be switching to off grid power
supplies. For several reasons. You see, it forces people to use more wildlife friendly sources,
and makes it easier, a whole new business on maintenance too. cities will still run using the power
companies, but homes will run off of other stuff. Power supplies vary but include, po....
