| | I don't think video games are a complete waste of time. Video games are only a waste of time when they start to become an obsession and overtake someone's life. But if they are played for short hours on a regular interval they can become a recreational or a leisure activity like watching a movie. Personally, I would prefer to play a game rather than read a book. Anyway, scientists have proved that playing video games can improve your speed of reaction and reflexes, so it’s not a complete waste of time after all. |

Video games are only a waste of time when you're overweight and need to excercise/play sports. >_> I play videogames just for the fun and enjoyment of it, but I'm not a huge, "oh me gah, i'ma play video games for 10 hours straight!" gamer. I play it casually from time to time and enjoy it like so. They're basically something to do....I mean, it's better to play a video game than to loll around watching tv..I mean, at least you're thinking about something and doing something...right? And there have been instances where games can be helpful towards education and 'health'. Education meaning, you can learn words from rpgs, or some games incorporate like, how trains work and stuff from real life, and you learn how they work while having fun. The health part, I mean as there was a story about how dislexic(sp?) people were introduced to some game that helped them in sorting out this and that. It was really interesting anyways. All in all, videogames shouldn't be counted as a complete waste of time....I mean, that's like saying posting here is a complete waste of time. =/

To me it is in fact a waste of time. After playing, I get addicted and skip lunch, dinner and meeting with friends. I loose sleep and keep playing and playing. I think the games companies are the ones making profits and it is inly good for them. Furthermore I read that playing too much games make you stupid and stuff like that. So when my computer crash. I stop installing all my games and get on with my "normal" life.

They are a waste of time, and it's a generally accepted fact, is it not? That's why you play em, simple for the enjoyment and time consumption. There shouldn't really be other reasons to play? I guess video games do have more of a social aspect than most critics would suggest though, joining clans or teams, socialising in that respect can be rewarding. Apparantly, it also improves your reaction time and your hand eye co-ordination... I would say it's probably less of a waste of time than watching popcorn movies or some trashy tv drama.

Who cares if they are a waste of time (i dont think so btw). I mean, my friend made $400 in a day playing a WC3 tournie in his town (Australia). I mean he was in a pro clan and got sponsored to play etc. etc. so i mean, when you are on the computer learning some programming language and you play games on the side then im fine with it

Yep, it's quite possible, but often to get to that stage you have to invest a lot of time into it to become that pro. And that time you spend may not be = to the amount you may have gotten in a proper job, but who am I to disagree with. (Honestly, if I had the capacity to do so, I would enter and want to win also )

yes, video games is a waste of time. And so is posting on a forum. or maybe even building a web site. Or maybe even reading a book. Or maybe even napping. It's all just a waste of time but hey, no one cares, it's not like we have anything else in our lives to do. And plus, people actually think video games can be fun. I'm so bored out of my mind that i'm gonna read a book. Dude, these days, that is like...nerd... and some of us are too young to be thinking about girls. Wheres your childhood man?

Outdoor Drinking Games May Face A Ban
A local issue in my town, but my vent conserning it (2) Just recently in my town an issue has come up that has my whole campus in a fluster. I was reading
my colleges news paper and right on the front page, first article, in big bold letters, "OUTDOOR
DRINKING GAMES MAY FACE A BAN" Ok, being a local to my town for the past 9 years and I am now also
a student, I have realized how biased this "News Paper" actually is. To begin with, the reason this
ban has been brought up because there is over 75 Beer Pong Tables outside on peoples porches (it is
currently fall and its cold so there where a lot more). However, the article mad....
My Rant On Video Formats And Compatibility
(11) Ok, well recently i bought a DVD Burner, and it works fine all to say, but i never knew that the DVD
Roms had to be a certian format (DVD+R or DVD-R)so i had to buy the correct format of the roms, then
i didn't know that the video that i wanted to burn to the DVD had to be a special format (.avi,
.mpeg, etc...) so now i have to go through this whole conversion process, then i have to make sure
that the format of the video is compatible with the DVD player that i want to play it on.. im like
argh! what a nightmare! SO my ideal it, to scrap all video formats a....
Role Play Games

Topics That Annoy Me
Millions of replies = waste of time (4) Every now and then, I find one of these topics around the forum asking what people do. I usually
reply, and over time, the amount of replies in that thread really adds up, and I don't really
have the time to go and disable the reply notifications of all these topics. It's like every
member of the forum replies to it. I get really annoyed, because I get areply notofications for
every topic I post in, and I have to get by those in my email (Gmail does weird things with the
Trap17 notofications, grouping all the notofications of a day into one conversation) just to ....
Those Who Think Video Games Lead To Violence
It really makes me mad... (28) I really hate all of the people that think video games train kids to kill. In the colombine school
shootings, they said that the kids played video games, which is why they committed the crime.
I'm not saying that they are wrong or right, but if you look at the statistics, as video game
sales increase at a substancial rate, the number of violent crimes are starting to decrease. I want
to put a story on my school's website about people's reactions to this. I would be
interisted for some feedback about this from all of you out there. I figured that we have a pre....
Video Game Addicts
go outside.. (9) This is to those of you who spend countless hours staying inside playing video games. Not to those
who you who indulge your time sparingly.. Video games were made to cure boredom. Not to take time
out of your busy day. I see more kids staying inside playing video games then I do outside playing
in the warm sun. I miss the days when we'd play Tecmo Superbowl for ten minutes then go outside
and play real football for two hours. Now, most people are lazy and do it the other way around, play
real football for fifteen minutes, start sweating then go inside and play PS2....
