| | Well, just now I was disconnected from the internet and I was like what the heck (at this time I was connected at 576 Kbps), then when I connected again I was at 2.2Mbps.
My ISP didn't even tell me I was getting updgraded, I'm so happy now anway
It is actually quite a bit quicker at downloading and loading pages. |

That doesnt seem like something an isp would do, especially without letting you know first. Hope the bill doesnt increase.

The same thing happened to me, although we just switched to 2.2mb service, its so nice to be able to download 200 mb files in 15 minutes, and moan at everyone else for lagging

i give 5:! odds on a increase to the bill since they are putting more resources in for a faster connnection to the net.

They did that with me too, only they alerted me first. I'm up to ~2.2-2.8 mbs now. (Right now, I have Azureus running with ~30 torrents, so it's feeling very, very sluggish ;) . At one time, when I had 50 torrents running, I clocked my rate at 33kbs!)

LOL. If that happened to me, I'd probably feast.Too bad it'll never happen. I'm using Dial-up. Prepaid dial-up. Plus, our technology here is only from Dial-up, Broadband, Satellite, and DSL. There might be more, but I'm sure we don't have much. Although, I'd like to get those fast ones  I don't have enough money.

ISPs do that all the time. It's not unusual for an ISP to upgrade their services from time to time. For example, the standard High-Speed here in Canada for Rogers internet, IIRC, was 2Mbits. But then it got upgrade to 3Mbits. Then they released a deal that in short, stated that if one were to buy a modem from them, they'd upgrade you to 6Mbits free of charge. It's all marketing. And since every-now-and-then resources tend to get cheaper-and-cheaper, eventually it's cost efficient and sound for your image as a company to upgrade people's services free of charge. You probably love that company now. And you'll most likely be sticking with them for a long er time now. Am I right? Ah, gotta love clever marketing schemes. Especially when they work to your benefit. Everyone wins, so that's good. Have fun. I myself am running on 6Mbits. But I know of some countries (Sweden?) where the standard home-line is 100Mbits for the same price I get my 6Mbits here in Canada. I'd sell my soul for the kind of service.

My provider doesn't tell me when they change they jsut do it. Mines Comcast... Its a leading corporation and they dont bother telling anybody. My download is like 4mb and upload is 400kb. I think thats pretty good and if you get tier your speed is 6mb download and 750mb upload. Its pretty cool. Very fsat for sure though.

One of the ISP in my country also gives surprise upgrades to their services to grab more trust and loyalty of the customers. Recently they upgraded all of their 1500kpbs users to 3000kbps without even notifying them. It's only like when everyone has been upgraded then the ISP releases the news. It was like one to two months later before announcement..

Why Hasn't The Military Upgraded Its Soldiers' Weapons?
- (13)
I'm wondering why the XM8 project wasn't continued. The XM8, if further developed, would
have replaced most of the military's need for multiple weapons systems by utilizing its
modularity to customize the weapon for the user with its ability for attachments and hot-swap
capability of barrels and other parts. Some of the weapons that it could have replaced were, if
found effective, the M249 SAW, the M203, and the M16 and M4. The XM8 is able to function as a
fully-automatic weapon, a sub-machine personal defense weapon, a sniper rifle, or a normal carbine. ...

What does everyone think about meeting people from the internet in real life? Everyday when i'm
at school or have nothing else to do I talk to people from places such as Canada, Australia, or

know more about a person living thousands of miles away than the people you see everyday. I went on
a trip to Canada last week for this folklore festival party and met around 20 people from this one
forum site I always go to. It was really amazing meeting these guys in person ...

Just been thinking on a simple analogy to internet and life. If you would say that internet is
space, and webistes are stars, than somehow i think it would lose meaning, couse most stars have
some sort of planets or thingies that rotate around them. If internet would be space then probably
web servers would be stars, and backbone computers would be galaxies. Backbone computers than again
are just main bandwith carriers around the world, and they couldn't be compared to galaxies
beacouse galaxies are more kind of a collections of stars, and then all web servers would...
My Thoughts On Why Internet Explorer Is So Popular.
- (11)
I see little point in the "What browser do you use?" topic except to discuss the pros and cons of
different browsers. It's obvious that most people will use Internet Explorer because almost all
computers that are bought for people or sold to them are pre-loaded with Some version of Windows, in
which the only browser is Microsoft's own, Internet Explorer. And since a big proportion of
first-time computers users are not so computer savvy and do not become so because they do not really
need to, they will use what they are given. In the internet Cafe I am typing...

The internet is a great source of information and entertainment brought into our homes within the
last few years. It plays in important role to many individuals and businesses, but how many people
actually know what/not to do on the Internet? It isnt something I'm particularly hung up on or
afraid of since im certain that nothing I do regarding the internet is illegal, but it is true that
an increasing number of people are getting arrested for Internet crime. Not to have a debate about
what is right or wrong here, but surely the rules are written down somewhere? T...
Internet Connection Problems
- (5)
This problem never occured to me until just recently. Now this is the third time that this is
happening in less than a week. Basically what happens is that the internet connection gradually
starts to slow down over a period of 10 mins or so and eventually it becomes extremely slow, to the
point that it becomes almost useless. At that point, a message pops up at the bottom of the screen
saying "Network Connection Unplugged", eventhough everything is plugged up just fine according to my
inspection. Than after 10-20 seconds, that message disappears and the internet pops ...

after that I started to design web sites. It was harder then because I didn’t have a comp...
