You are in a sense wasting your money becasue if you buy this now by the time vista comes out and DX 10 comes out it will be pretty much obsolete...
If you lucky (depeding on waht you do) you may get a good year out of this computer with games (that are out RIGHT NOW), that computer is definatly not anything you would be using 3d art programs on such as maya or other programs like that.
That computer you are building is ment for older games/ text based stuff nothing that requires alot so look at the future when you are buying something
Really you should be looking at around 800-1000 $ on a system that will last for 3-5 years maybe more if your lucky
just thought id include this into your thought before you buy it

For the price that you are going to pay for an AMD 3700+ I'd just say to upgrade to an AMD Dual Core X2 processor. They have dropped in price significantly lately, you can get the Dual Core 4200+ for $182 off Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103747)
Its less than a $100 upgrade and majorly worth it in my opinion. I've been building custom systems for 5 or 6 years now and Dual Core is a really nice new technology.

hmm..are you a heavy pc user? if you run alot of programs on ur pc at the same time, you might want to consider having DDR2 ram..and maybe 1.5 or 2GB? cuz from what i know vista uses quite a lot.
Another thing is, if you're going to upgrade this pc again soon, then your cpu is fine, but if you want to use it for another 3-4 years maybe..then, you might want to consider getting a dual core processor, so that you're more up-to-date. if you're going to upgrade again soon, you can wait for Intel's core 2 quad and AMDs new range of processors.
just my two cents though, i don't know your budget and your amount of computer usage, so naturally those 2 aren't taken into consideration
i really think if your using it for gaming (not really sure if you are or not but it looks like it) then you should maybe think of getting another 512mb ram in there but you can upgrade that in the future
all mobo should be vista compatible... however newer boards might be able to take advantage of news things in the systems os
and yes the Hard Drive holds the OS but all you need there is a 120+ gig hard drive and you should be fine... but get a good mobo and cpu u wont regret it lol

Well i developed my own workout system and i decided that doing 20 situps at day and 20 situps at

I have a new ecs extreme motherboard with an apthlon 939 3000+ processor, with 512mb ram a new power
supply and new hardrrive. I have a 128m AGP video card from a good machine. All of the itemes I am
using have either come from a running system or have been tested in a working computer. My computer
will turn on and I can get to cmos setup or to boot from cd, however, after about 1-2 minutes the
