this is all if you have a bit more money otherwise the system you have there is just fine but seriously you dont need a 100 $ case its a waste of money... im modding my old pos case lol cost me about 20 bucks but is nicely built so ill just add a few more holes and add some lights and a window and itll be awsome
i was talking to my friend today and he was like why...
You are in a sense wasting your money becasue if you buy this now by the time vista comes out and DX 10 comes out it will be pretty much obsolete...
If you lucky (depeding on waht you do) you may get a good year out of this computer with games (that are out RIGHT NOW), that computer is definatly not anything you would be using 3d art programs on such as maya or other programs like that.
That computer you are building is ment for older games/ text based stuff nothing that requires alot so look at the future when you are buying something
Really you should be looking at around 800-1000 $ on a system that will last for 3-5 years maybe more if your lucky
just thought id include this into your thought before you buy it
also you cannot really upgrade anything on that board by the time you need to that stuff will be so obsolete it wont be funny...
if you were me and w/e lol id get a MOBO that supports DDR2, and has at least 1 pcie slot if not 2 (for sli) also look for the newer stuff
Im guessing once the core quardos come out the duos will drop in price a little bit and be more around 100-150 (im guessing) so id wait till the quardos and vista comes out to upgrade or build a new computer (plus after xmas time stores will be wanting to get rid of there old stock for the newer stuff so the prices should also be lower!!!
For the price that you are going to pay for an AMD 3700+ I'd just say to upgrade to an AMD Dual Core X2 processor. They have dropped in price significantly lately, you can get the Dual Core 4200+ for $182 off Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103747)
Its less than a $100 upgrade and majorly worth it in my opinion. I've been building custom systems for 5 or 6 years now and Dual Core is a really nice new technology.
yeah if your sticking with amd at least get one towards the top thats all i cna say im not really a fan of either im just going with which one has the better product
as of right now intel does with there duos and soon to be cuadros so yeah anyways its personal preferance so feel free to get your amd stuff just get a dual core it helps ALOT
Cuadros? Im assuming those are CPU's with 4 cores? 2 Dual Cores built into 1? That will be pretty sweet, I haven't even heard of those yet. Wonder what pretty price tag Intel will slap on those bad boys..

hmm..are you a heavy pc user? if you run alot of programs on ur pc at the same time, you might want to consider having DDR2 ram..and maybe 1.5 or 2GB? cuz from what i know vista uses quite a lot.
Another thing is, if you're going to upgrade this pc again soon, then your cpu is fine, but if you want to use it for another 3-4 years maybe..then, you might want to consider getting a dual core processor, so that you're more up-to-date. if you're going to upgrade again soon, you can wait for Intel's core 2 quad and AMDs new range of processors.
just my two cents though, i don't know your budget and your amount of computer usage, so naturally those 2 aren't taken into consideration
i really think if your using it for gaming (not really sure if you are or not but it looks like it) then you should maybe think of getting another 512mb ram in there but you can upgrade that in the future
all mobo should be vista compatible... however newer boards might be able to take advantage of news things in the systems os
and yes the Hard Drive holds the OS but all you need there is a 120+ gig hard drive and you should be fine... but get a good mobo and cpu u wont regret it lol
Well I got two weeks left in the semester and on August 18th I will have built my first computer
from scratch, now hopefully during the rest of the year I will have build up a series of topics on
computer hardware and tutorials on building a computer from scratch that most of you will never have
to buy a pre built system again /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0"
alt="biggrin.gif" />. With that being said this is the final specs of the computer I will be
building, after I had a fluke with my floppy drive (had the wrong one). Keyboard &...
I was just browsing through apple.com and took a look at the specs of the iMac. I would like to
know how do we actually read a iMac Specs http://www.apple.com/imac/ Is a Mac 2.33GHz Intel Core
2 Duo better than a Windows 3.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo? How do I know which is the memory of the
iMac? Can any experts enlighten me on this?...
I am in need of a new computer system and although I have used both Windows and Macs, I am pretty
sure that this next one will be a Windows machine because most of the Software I have is Windows
stuff. Anyways, here is what I do with my machine: Browse the Internet, post here, I write some
Html for sites, am learning some php to enhance the sites a little bit. Software I run to do all
this: Open Office for Word processing and Spreadsheets A 2D Drafting program A 3D Home Design
software XAMPP for php and mysql coding A couple of editors for html/phpcoding ie: Contex...
I found this webpage with a huge list of processors with a bunch of their specifications such as how
much heat they resist, their speeds, and their voltage. I really find it interesting, there are some
companies that dont exist such as Cyrix, I have an old compaq that has a Cyrix processor here in my
closet. This is a really interesting page for those of you who would like to know about all the
processors ever made and learn a little history, and how much they have evolved. The webpage is:

I'm wondering if you can help. If I'm looking at a new DVD drive what would you recommend?
Don't worry about price range, I'll save up if I have to. Also, is there a reason to upgrade
my sound card? It's at the latest an '02 model. I'm at work now so I can't check it.
But sound on the latest games seems to work fine, aside from an occasional skip. Actually here's
a good question. I want to play F.E.A.R. when it comes out. Bad. It looks cool. I realize that the
tech specs for it haven't been released as far as I know, but would you ...

- Socket A and pretty decent or Socket 939 and poor specs? (3)
I am building a computer soon, and I dont know which to go for. I am leaning torwards socket 939
becuase I can upgrade to AMD 64 3X00 latter when I have more money, but that wont be for at least 6
months. So, then I started thinking about getting a socket A computer that has an AMD XP 3000+. If I
get the socket A, I can get a 128MB VC and a Gig of RAM, but if I get the 939 I will have to settle
with intergrated video and 512MB of RAM for a while. I am asking you this, should I go for socket A
or 939?...
