| | How much is your average WPM. Does it help you when you have faster speeds or do you have to think about script you are making |

does age count? Typing Speed Urr,does age count? I mean, once a person gets to their teens, will their typing skills still improve? Everyone here types so fast!! I myself find it lucky if I can type 67 words per minute, and the fastest in my class can type a little over 70 I guess, but all the people here have an average probably double mine!! It's kinda sad really... -question by No asterisk?...

On a bad day, I get around 40 WPM to 59 WPM. I usually find myself hitting the backspace button repeatedly, and that really hinders the completion of my programs. I really don't think WPM have a large affect on my scripts or programs because if you know what you're doing, or you have planned out your code before typing, then I think you will finish faster than someone who have no organization. That's my opinion because there are plenty of people in the AP Computer Science class who type at about 15 WPM, but finish their programs (and gets a 100 on it) much faster than those who type at 100+ WPM.
I usually type anywhere from 35 to 50 wpm. On a bad day I usually type 20. but that is about it.
On a good day, maybe 50 to 60 words per minute. On a bad day... 15 or 20. Most of the time, they are bad days. I just can't seem to get my thoughts out and always mispell everything.
I personally don't think typing speed means everything. It's the quality of the writing. I know people who are amazingly slow, but the quality is amazing.
i average about 70 wpm on a keyboard i'm familiar with. ie: my laptop. otherwise i find myself repeateddly hiting the backspace and hunting for missing keys. I'm not a touch typist, at least not a 10-fingered one. I use 4 or 6 fingers usually, and can type like that without looking at the keyboard. that's probably where i mess up when using an unfamiliar keyboard, cuz i've memorized where the places are on mine.
I generally have a speed of 60-70 word per minute when I am typing english, but for other languages like Hindi it becomes very slow, somewhere between 15-20 word per minute.
How many of u are typing other languages than English.
you have to think of making mistakes with your incredible speeds. typing so fast can cause lots of probs for ya. Even though I can type real fast (250+ WPM) I still slow down whenever I am coding in order not to make stupid mistakes in there.
I type somewhere around 61 wpm with a 96% accuracy. (You could test your typing speed at www.typingtest.com)
I type in Hindi as well but that doesn't reduce my typing speed by much (I'd say only somewhere around 1 or 2 words a minute). QUOTE(odomike @ Mar 31 2005, 07:27 AM) you have to think of making mistakes with your incredible speeds. typing so fast can cause lots of probs for ya. Even though I can type real fast (250+ WPM) I still slow down whenever I am coding in order not to make stupid mistakes in there. Why do I think 250WPM isn't accurate? Maybe because you'd be like the best secretary in the world.
I can get up to about 65 wpm on a typing test. When I am typing out stories or things that are just coming from my head I can go much faster. If I am typing out code I go pretty slow though, because making a mistake there will lead to taking three times as long to figure out where I went wrong.

Barbara Blackburn is the worlds fastest typist at 250wpm
Typing Speed The worlds fastest typist is Barbara Blackburn and you are no Barbara Blackburn at all and I don't believe that you can type over two hundred and fifty words per minute either. She is in the Guiness Book of World Records so I know that this is not correct here. I can type from eighty five to one hundred and four words per minute and that is not bad at all. I have been practicing and doing this for over thirty years now and I am nowhere near her record wish I were though. There are some good typing websites to visit for speed and accuracy they are entitled or the url is www.Typingmaster.Com, learn2type.Com, and one of my favorites is powertyping.Com. Go and use some of these websites and practice and one of these days you will be able to type over 100 words per minute. I can now say that my speed is around 104 words per minute with accuracy as well. -reply by Danny

I found a site that not only tests your wpm, but also tests the accuracy of each finger! It's quite fascinating! http://www.programmingart.com/free/utilities/typetest/ It is free to use. They also invite you to download it (also free), and implement it on your own site if you are a webmaster! I thought that might spark a bit of interest around the Trap. And as for my personal achievements... I type anywhere between 80 and 130 wpm depending on what the content is.
I can read and type properly about 130 or 140 wpm last time I checked and I think 147 typing my guts out trying to get faster on the typing test but it depends what I'm typing. If it's something tricky with a lot of caps and accents it slows me down to like 110wpm. If I'm just typing my whats on my mind (ie: chatting) and ignoring capitalization it seems like i'd type faster but it's kind of hard to test that.
I'm surprised the record is only 172wpm. That's not as high as I would have thought it'd be.

Typing Speed The fastest typist in this world Barbara Blackburn (Guiness Record holder), types at 172 words per minute. So if you can type at 250 wpm, better call up the Guinness guys... -reply by Vivek
