i honestly do not think they will, i mean after someone downloads the video, there is no need to go back & play it over & over again right? which means: less money from the avertisement for youtube.. & many people will be mad, if they download it for free, since most stuff is copyrighted, & people just upload it.. [try looking up, how the company that runs mtv & nickelodion are suing youtube for allowing users to upload shows] the people who make the videos will loose money.. since theres no point of buying a video off ITUNES when you can download it right?
im just glad youtube is increasing the video quality, so most videos dont look like crap anymore tongue.gif
GO YOUTUBE BBY!

Youtube is getting much better with quality, I'm very happy to see videos aren't looking all blurry and bleh.. They can be viewed and much higher quality for those who use cable biggrin.gif

well actually i think its because of copy infringement issues.....if youtube offers a dl button for a video thats illegally being uploaded then you tube will be responsible for it.....but if another site offers a dl option then its not youtube's fault and they ♂9ont have to come before the law

I don't think they would be allowed to offer the videos for download because of copyright infringement laws. But of course, there will always be sites that will let you download the videos, as there is always going to be an illegal version of software and pirated DVDs, you can't stop them, but you don't support them.

Downloading also means putting up more servers to deal with the download of the actual file as well as the download of temporary data from streaming the youtube clip.

What if these third party sites were owned by Youtube themselves?

there making profits on that also biggrin.gif

i think its funny that google owns both youtube and google video, but yet only google video allows you to download videos wink.gif

I think it would a bad idea if Youtube let people download videos because it would drive traffic away from their site - like most people said. Also it would create copyright problems because hundreds of people would be uploading the same videos. What I think Youtube should do is make it possible that the original uploader could download their own videos - kind of like to make a backup of the video on their hard drive. I've uploaded a video on Youtube before and the original file on my computer got lost. It would be so helpful if I could download that video back to my hard drive again.
