well, if you formated your computer sometime before you wont have problems, the firts time i did it, i spend 5 hours reinstalling the windows, now i take up to half an hour and do this each 15 days, just to see my pc in max speed! dont need to give it back your pc like anwii says: ''ask for your money back because your gonna spend more time than it's worth to get this computer going'' firts thing to do: 1-create a floopy disk with windows 98 boot oy a cd-rom with windows 98 boot 2- when your computer starts press one of the functions on the keyboard (f1, f2...) i dont remember witch one you have to press. 3- select to start your pc from the floopy that you created or from de cd-rom your created... 4- if that works, great! the hard part is already over, just go fdisk and go follow the options in screen until there is an option to reformat yout hard drive.... 5- after reformating and fixing your master boot just poweroff and put your windows xp cd-rom on drive (if you have, if you dont have xp you''ll have to buy one or ... ) 6- Install windows xp. 7- search for your hardware drivers if you dont have the drivers cds. try ''everest'' a program that says your drivers 8- install your programs 9- enjoy Hope it work!!!!! if dont, send pm me for some part you didnt understand.

QUOTE(Find3r @ Mar 25 2006, 03:53 AM) Other than it's completely useless to do it every 15 days... yeah the more often you do it the better you get. QUOTE(Find3r @ Mar 25 2006, 03:53 AM) 1-create a floopy disk with windows 98 boot oy a cd-rom with windows 98 boot 2- when your computer starts press one of the functions on the keyboard (f1, f2...) i dont remember witch one you have to press. 7- search for your hardware drivers if you dont have the drivers cds. try ''everest'' a program that says your drivers 8- install your programs 9- enjoy I'll correct this a little: 1- make sure you have a bootable xp cd, every legal version should fulfil this criteria 2- go into the bios and make sure "boot from cd" is enabled, respectively that your cd drive is selected as a boot drive 3- turn off, insert cd, turn on, hit any key to boot from cd when it asks you to 4- follow instructions and install windows You don't need to create a floppy disk nowadays, PCs can boot from the cd and you can format your drive during the installation.

Bad partition - this is easy. Options are If the HDD had been partitioned with NTFS already - do this ---> 1 - set BIOS to boot with the winxp CD, select to install windows, delete the partition, recreate it and continue on to format and install winxp 2 - OR set BIOS to start with win98 floppy, boot up and select CD Support, change to your winxp CD (drive), change to i386 - run winnt - go thru the winxp installation - deleting, recreating, formatting partitions, install windows OR slave your hdd onto another winnt based machine and blow away the partion (never touch the small OEM on the hdd if this is an OEM machine) If somehow it is FAT32 (highly unlikely as its OEM) Just run fdisk and delete/recreate partions Alternatively - OEM PCs come with Recovery CDs - you can try running this to reinstall winxp Note - dont delete the OEM partion thats already on the Harddrive (small partition). If you asked me - I had an OEM PC once - it had a winxp recovery CD - first thing I did - blow away the OEM partion - install winxp from my retail CD - get drivers and install other apps - all good. Last time I saw my recovery CD. Let me know if you're still having problems - had worked for Microsoft Desktop for over 5 years this stuff is music to my ears. Theres more options than the above - post any messages you get and information like: Brand of PC Did it come with a recovery CD? How big is the HDD Win98 floppy ? Errors yes errors important

Problem With The Trap17 Forum
Inconsistent links and problems with "Latest Activity" (4) Hi, I have noticed a bit of a problem with the forums here on Trap17. I don't know if this is a
problem with the Trap17 implementation, or with Invision Power Board in general, or with a mod that
is running on the forums here, and I'm sure that someone smarter than me can isolate the source
of the problem. What I have noticed firstly is that the link that is generated in the top right
corner of a post within a thread, the link to that particular post (I'll call that the linkback
link), sometimes links to the post itself, but often just links to the thread. T....
Creating A Shortcut List Near The System Tray
Time saver tip for windows (4) Are you bored at work today? Here's a small enhancement to your desktop. Hope you like it. I)
When you have to open any program you have to click "Start" "All Programs" and then choose your
selection from the programs folder. Now how would it be to achieve the same task in just two clicks?
You can save all your favourite program shortcuts in a folder and view that through a tiny arrow
near the system tray. Its very simple. You would tell, "Ya, I almost knew that". Here's how to
do it. a) First create your folder and add the shortcuts you want to access. The f....
What Is Winpe?
An introduction to the Windows Preinstallation Environment (4) Ever wish that you could legally install an operating system that is as familiar as Microsoft
Windows, without having to learn the arcane intricacies of Linux, and without having to pay the
exorbitant licensing that Micro$oft charges? Did I mention doing it legally ? I don't
mean making use of any form of keygen, serial, crack, etc. Is this possible? How many old Pentium 2
systems with 64MB of RAM and an 8GB hard drive got stuffed into your back cupboard without an
operating system license when Microsoft brought in the Microsoft Genuine Advantage program? W....
Windows Vista Installation Fails
(3) Hello. I tried Installing Windows Vista Home Premium today, but when it comes to the part
of the Installation where it says "Your computer will restart several times" my computer restarts
more then 40 times, and never loads after that. After like, 10-15 minutes of it being off, I switch
it back on, and it restores to XP (Witch is good because it wouldn't start up at all). I've
tried installing this 4 times altogether, and nothing. it keeps restarting continuously more then 40
times. The only time it restarts is after the BIOS loads, when switching/restar....
How Many Times Do You Reinstall Windows In A Year
There goes some useful tips about it. (19) I reinstall (restore) windows almost every 2-3 months. What about you??? Seeing the title some would
say "I do it daily" and some others "How to reinstall?". Let's see the poll results. Linuxers,
see you in other post. Reinstalling windows is a daily chore for the students studying computers.
They have to switch a lot of softwares, compilers etc etc. Windows as we know, will not tolerate a
whole lot of (Un)installations and will ultimately slow down the whole system. This is not the case
with Linux. Just consider this, I installed Red Hat WS 3(the older version whi....
Its's Official Microsoft Is Done With The Windows Operating System
(13) Wow and I thought this one website was joking around that Microsoft plans to do one more Windows

code name Midori and it is based on the Cloud computing concept, which by the way Dell is trying to
copyright this name for. All I know about cloud computer is that it will be internet based
operating system meaning that buying CD's based software could end. Heck we are already seeing
it in which yo ucan download full license software without hte use of a CD (legally). Rig....
Windows Xp: Explorer.exe Crashes On Certain Accounts
(5) I share a Windows XP computer with two friends, and we each have our own User Account on the
computer. Recently whenever my friends use the PC, they begin to have problems with it. For no
reason whatsoever, Windows Explorer will crash and close all the current folders that are open. I
went onto their User Accounts to see for myself (with permission, of course), and found that
Explorer would crash any time I right-clicked a File, and would also crash on occasion if I clicked
"File" on the Folder Window's Menu Bar with a file selected. It also happened on rare occasion....

Is There An Adium-like Im Client For Windows?
(19) Recently I've been getting sick of connecting to so many accounts on so many different clients.
It's troublesome to maintain so many accounts/programs. I liked using Trillian for a while but
it took too much processor memory and it can't connect to Skype or Googletalk (which I
haven't downloaded, but will do so when I find a suitable Adiumlike program). Does anyone know
of an IM client which supports all the major IM protocols? That would be MSN, Yahoo, AIM,
Jabber/Google (well, Skype too but I guess it's optional). I've looked around the plac....
