| | Approximately every half an hour anyone connected to me is disconnected. There is no trouble establishing the connection and it runs smoothly till sudden disconnection. There is no problem with someone connecting through the local are network. I believe it is something with my router, but I can't find anything. I use a DI-604 Ethernet Broadband Router, my computer has McAfee security center and I also have windows XP home edition firewall on. I've tried turning off both McAfee and windows firewall, along with using DMW which supposibly opens all ports in my router for my computer. Since others can see my computer, it means the proper port is open. I also have no problem connecting when others host and it is not the programs fault as it happens with anything that I host. I'm completly lost to what to do and need some help please. |

I know its not a solution but if the people that are connecting you use a download manager then they might be able to resume downloading? Something like that? I'm sure you've thought of setting the pc as an FTP server so they can connect to it. Just a thought.

Hi I would definitely say,it is something with configuration on your router.Check to make sure,all of the neccesary ports are open,and forwarded to your machine.Also,if there is a DHCP server running,check what's the lease time for your IP.Maybe server is changing your IP,and then people get disconnected.Possibly something else in the configuration.Check with your administrator,or if you are administering your router,check the configuration thoroughly. Internet Connections
Can't stay connected (6) I would really appreciate any ideas/sugestions for my current computer problem. I am on dial up,
it has always been very slow, but for the past few weeks I have first off, had a TERRIBLE time
getting a connection, and then when I finally do get one, I frequently get kicked off in a few

How Do I Autostart Programs On Startup
In Windows (1) I know Windows automatically register new installations to autostart on startup. I have installed
Mozilla Thunderbird, but apparently, I can't find the option to actually get it to autostart, I
have to keep opening it every time I switch on my laptop. How can I configure Windows to accept

What Things Does One Need To Create A Web Hosting Service?
(2) Hi everyone I was talking to a friend about setting up a network between our houses when i had an
idea.. Why dont we/e i setup a web host? So that got me thinking, what kind of things would i need
o do this? of course id need knowledge and of course i dont have enough right now but im thinking
what kind of hardware/software and services? Now i know i would need a willing ISP who would allow
me to do this, and if it got popular i might need a private line to them for high speed internet. I
know i would need a web server and of course a router/modem to conect it to the ....

(9) i dont really know what the problem is, but like every 3 minutes my internet connects stops, then
goes back up after like 3 secs. i am not sure if a cable might be faulty, my modem or one of my
routers is bad. here is the stuff i use dsl provider-->modem-->dynex router-->2
computers and another router-->my wireless router-->my computer and laptop i am not sure
what the problem is, seeing as just yesterday it was fine. but before that sometimes it would go
out, but not as often, just like 1-2 times a week and i would have to restart my router. but no....

Strange Computer Issue
Internet Connected, but somethings will not work. (12) Well I have a computer issue that I ran into this week and I spent an good few days trying to figure
it out with some success...I think. Ok this all stared when I would leave my computer to run over
night the internet connection was good, the internet browsers, IM, and my online game that I would
leave running would all be working and connected to the internet. When I wake up in the morning
however, I would find my Game still running and my IM running they would still be connected,
however when I tried to use my internet browser it wouldn't connect to the internet. ....

internet connection really sucked heh...around 4000-5000 kbps and after i used it it went up

Slow Internet Browsing With Brand New Computer
(15) I have a brand new computer running Windows XP 512 MB RAM, Compaq Presario 1.4Ghz Celeron. I am
connected to the internet with Comcast in Fremont. Web sites pages are slow to open up. The
performance problem occurs on many different sites, so I suspect the problem is on my end -- either

Too Many Programs Open - A Nightmare?
(21) Well, I have a friend that is ALWAYS complaining about how many programs I have opened at the same
time. Like 15 items in the start menu, and 20 tabs in Firefox... lolz, that's my way of using a

Internet Hiccups And Connection Issues
Wow... where do I start? (3) Ok I have to basic issues. 1)- When I startup my computer, in order to connect to my DSL access, I
need to go into the command prompt and type "net start dhcp server" Otherwise I end up with all
0's when i type ipconfig and we all know that means no internet! So the question here

yeah it is kinda odd (12) Well this only seems to happen when I am answering Livejournal replies via my email but this is what

(6) I just built my own computer... It works fine, but there's a problem with the internet
connection... The internet is very slow when 2 or 3 computers are connected to the internet,
especially when a onlinegame is running on an other computer. But when I try to play games online
on the new computer, the ping is normal, but I'm getting flood kicked. The problem doesn't
appear on the other computer in the wireless network here. Can someone help me?....
