Well, I have used Trillian earlier. Was not comfortable with it. Can't say what exactly was the problem. As Solanky says, I have switched to Gaim and sticking to it for now. All cross-messenger platforms have some limitations, like no audio or video chats for example. If you can accept that for your use, you will be very comfortable with any of them. They are the best for simple text messaging. Save on PC resources - no need to have YIM, MSN, AIM, ICQ etc all to be running at the same time. One software does it all. My ranking of such softwares: 1. Gaim 2. Trillian

I have used traillian before..but that was before I had to reformat my HD. After that, I havent downloaded the program again. It is really a kool IM. I like it lots because of the features in which you can use it to connect to so many chat messengers at the same time. You should try it.

I guess I'd better give some negatives about Trillian: 1. It has a multiple user system but logs aren't encrypted (no IM service I know does this but they should) so there's one security issue for me 2. With AIM, clicking the URL "AIM:whateverAIM" would load a new AIM window messaging "whateverAIM"...but Trillian hasn't got that, which is a pain esp. as it's more work to message someone not on the list 3. All the damn popup messages every time you log in...telling you the AIM buddies have been d/l from the server etc. (not too bad but a pain to me :-)) 4. Possible copyright infringement that I assume Douglas Adams decided not to do anything about :-)

QUOTE(CyberSprite @ Nov 29 2004, 08:23 PM) Trillian .74 is completely free No : Trillian is closed source. You can't check if it include spywares, and you (or any developers) can't correct bugs. So it isn't free. If you absolutly want a multi-protocole IM, you should use GAIM. But the smartest solution is to use the jabber protocole, which is compatible with all other protocoles, and has a very hudge number of light clients.

One question...do you pay for it? No? Then it's free He didn't say it was open source, he said it was *FREE* and that it is :-) Of course, some will probably quote Trillian Pro saying it isn't free, but no-one here's talking about Trillian Pro, we're talking about the free one, which is "free" in every sense of the word...and in no way open source.

I'm using the final version of trillian 3.0 now and am very impressed with it. There are still some minor issues, but almost all of those can be fixed, the forum there is very good for finding people willing to offer help. Apart from that i just find it much easier to be able to deal with contacts who are separated into groups as I choose rather than separated by which im service they use. It's certainly worth a look if you use a lot of different im clients.

Hehehe, Trillian. I use Trillian right now and I am satisfied. I've got friends that are strictly dedicated to using only MSN, only AIM, and only ICQ, so it let's me chat with those people all at the same time while saving myself window room and CPU room. Highly reccommended if you don't already have Trillian.

I used to use it... I was one of the first to use it... but now I don't like it anymore... it's too popular and I prefer to use ICQ/MSN separated from each one... I just prefer...

I like trillian...not love. I think that it misses many features that the current messengers have. I am in the public beta of trillian 3 and the features still do not work as well as they should. I guess it just takes time to get used to trillian....
