And more , Trap17 should remove those annoying Advertisements on the forum , why Trap17 provided Free Web Host without Ads and Trap17 's Forum don't ? because instead of putting the ads on YOUR site they put them on the forums. that is why the ads are there, and will forever be there unless you want to match the maount of money they make with those ads? invision power board is way more known than SMF is, and it would take way to much to even bother with re-writing the codes that are used for the free webhosting.

Frankly speaking, SMF isnt a very good board and they can never be compared to paid boards like IPB and vBulletin... And please, IPB is a more well known and renown board, they can really attract more members than SMF and usually members goes for paid boards like IPB and vBulletin instead of free boards like SMF or phpBB... And a change of board would require a full load of work including a porting over of databases and a rescript of the credits code... And if one day trap17 would to turn into free boards like SMF permanently, I maybe will leave this place... Ads here are very important as these ads are the only main source that are supporting our free ads-free hosting... And how does the ads here bug you? If you have time you can click those ads and help out trap17 abit and continuing our hosting here...

trap17's main source for money comes from computing host. the Ad's are there for the extra support in money that is needed.

Those ads is what enables us to have free hosting! I haven't complained once because I am not paying for my hosting and it is quality hosting. If you don't want to be hosted here you can simply move. no one is forcing you to stay here.

Well, Invision has been used on these forums for quite some time now. and there is a reason for this. With all that goes on here its the easyiest and most advanced software that I know of for using as a forum board, its also the most expensive but that doesent really matter as long as this software really helps with managing forum posts and users etc, thats why they prefer using these boards.

Thanks to all who replied in this thread but can you tell me what is the defference between a Simple Machines Forum and a Invision Power Board except the layout , Invision Power Board is not free and some small things ? Is it really better than Simple Machines ? Thank you very much.

It's like driving a car with many features verses driving a car that gets you from point A to point B. If all you want to accomplish is to create a forum for discussions SMF will do just fine. But while creating a forum you want to give an "experience" of being a forum member then IPB is the way to go. Trap17 turned off this feature because of heavy loading time but IPB can have each forum a customized skin. Skin is the theme for colors, backgrounds, icons etc. So picture each forum section you enter can have different skin--that's the power of IPB. And that's just one aspect of this script. But like I said, all you want to create is a nice forum SMF would be your best choice...especially for free. And try stay within a single topic per post.

I agree with protoman (The topic starter) I have used SMF for a few weeks and it sure is awesome , it is the best forum system ever , even those paid board can't beat it.

(4) I'd like to suggest a freelance coders forum or subforum under Internet. I know a few popular
sites where people go to hire programmers, web designers, etc. I don't like the open bidding
system, though, where coders are bidding down their price so low that they're not going to make

Trap17 Home Page Banner Mistake
(3) I just now noticed that the flash banner at the top of trap17's home page has an error. It says
"THE BEST YOU CAN FIND ON WEB". Obviously it should read "on THE web" since "the web" is the phrase
always used to refer to the internet, and not just web. This is about as major and noticeable a
mistake as the site could make, so I think this especially needs to get fixed.....
Typos: Editing The Trap17 Rules
(0) I noticed there was a typo in the Rules because of them being quoted in this topic:

introduction" (without the quotes) in all forums rendered 897 results. Then I did a search for

A printable/pdf format user guide (3) It would be very much helpful if we can make a detailed documentation/user guide for Trap17. That

use the cpanel etc. In my opinion, that should be an all-in-one document which can give answer to

Why not starting free domain service? (22) Now days, free hosting can be seen on all places. But free domains are given only by a few sites or

Sports Forum
(2) As you can tell, the trap forums have almost every topic under the sun. The only thing that is
missing is a sports related forum. I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there who want to
talk about tonights game, Barry Bonds on steroids, and about their Fantasy Football team. If you put
up a sports forum, I'm sure it will be a big hit right away because there are very few pople who

Donations To Trap17
For members who want to say thank you (3) (I dont know if anyone else had an idea like this... if it did please excuse me) I have read
Trap17's Story in the General Section and since I'm a member for over an year and a half and
I'm very pleased with Trap17 I want to donate a small amount of money (what I can spare). As a
gift not as any fee or something... It is a way to express my gratitude to Trap17 and it's
admin. Trap17 has over 19.000 members now and if only 10% of them would donate 10 cents it would
still be over 190$. It would be great if the admin could open some donation accounts a....
What Forum Is It In
(4) I love the quick links at the bottom of each site which tell you the most recent posts, ect.
However I think it would be nice to know that forum they are posted in because I have a slow
connection and it is a waist of my time when I see a topic that I can answer and it actualy a
tutorial. Or even if the tutorials could be in a diffrent colour, have an icon or be labled with a
in the link. Also on a related note there are several posts which can't be opened because they

I'm sure there are plenty of animal lovers in Trap17 (12) Well why CAN'T we have a pet section such as for fish, birds, dogs, cats, etc? I mean I'm
sure there are many pet lovers out there (me being one) who would want a section like this. Some of
you might know this site: fishforums.net. It's a very active and popular fish/aquatics site for
info and many things. Why can't we have it here? In this fish section could also be an aquatic
plant section too. One of the popular aquarium plant website is aquaticplantcentral.com. This too
is a very active site for plant and fish lovers but mainly focused on plant....
