i had some really bad experience with a governement web host before. it was free service, but they were really bad. isn't there no such thing as a free lunch? but i hope trap17 is good to me

Arg. There are many horrible free web hosts, and many good ones besides. But my top two would have to be...
- TripodLycos UK, for their horrible side-frame banners that played havoc with my forum administration. - 100WebSpace, for promising NO-AD's, then springing a small banner on it's unsuspecting users, which mutated into a huge eyesore.
Yes, 100webspace has to be added to the list. I had been with them for about three months and was just watching a banner grow, and grow, and grow and grow.. from 1 text sized line, to 2 text size lines to a whole 40 or 50 pixel high google add bar. And they prided themselves on not having any adds. Apparently it was the "managers" decisions.
The "managers" must have a new car or holiday in thier sites I'd say.... grrr... I hope these guys are better. Oh, sorry, I have tried alot of freewebhosts before though, Freewebs, Lycos, Tripod, Geocities, Proboards, createforums (both .net and .com), simgames, 100webhost, FrandT, AHost4u or whatever it was called, Some host like learn4host or something. I hope I can actually stay with trap17 though, trap17 is good though, all of those other hosts (there are more) weren't very good, or had terrible ads, and I don't mind posting here. I have too much to say, lol.
So, 100webhost has been inducted into the webhost terrors hall of fame, but can be kicked out if more people vote for other things. I think geocities takes number 2.
My nominies have got to be www.250free.com with there overly exccessive ads. They put 2 leaders board ads on botht the top and bottum of eah page, along with 3 pop unders and 2 popups (normaly). Its really bad and I only stayed with them for a month lol, just because of that. My second nominie is got to be geocities. Whenever I see a geocities site my mind goes.......... Bleh! I dont like them either and there payed stuff is kinda junk compared to this I think. Well thats my true oppinion hope it was your too.
well i have not looked much into other hosts. when i was first looking for a free web hosting service i looked at angelfire and geocities. i did not like either one of those. all the ones i seemed to try had lots and lots of ads and popups on them. i hate those. then i found trap17 and have not looked any further.
most worst web hosts:
-www.hostultra.com (pop ups, they try to install something in your computer or something XP and when you go to an error page, you're attacked with pop ups) -www.freewebs.com (not enough space and you can only get up to 50 files uploaded....) that is all
