| | .tk domain names are great!!! I have NO idea why people think they are so bad!!! You don't have to have ads on you site!! You have the choice to turn them off!! Just go to Dot TK Linker Promo on you .tk account and click 'No thanks.' to ads. They will be instantly disabled and your site will be ad free!! This works on free accounts!!! Just look at my sites:

They are both under .tk free accounts and they are both ad free!!! .tk is a top level domain and it's just like .com, but it's free! It also requires NO credit card. Did I mention, it's free!!!

Dot.Tk is NOT a TLD because .tk is not a real domain name. It is just a redirect service that redirects your subdomain to the dot.tk of your choice. TLD's include .com, .biz, .tv, .org, .net, .info and many others. And I diagree with it being like .com because unlike .com, .tk always shows your url and never other pages. Like if you have a game page labled www.****.trap17/games you'd only see www.****.tk, which some people won't mind, but does become a hassel when people must go the home page of your site just to visit that link. Still .tk isn't all bad, but I'm sticking with My real TLD domain and not some redirect service! Also someone else made an exact topic like this one so instead of making another topic you could have just replied to it with this info!!

I don't like dot.tk and i recommand you to not use it and use joynic.com my account got deleted because they wants me to pay, they say my account is deleted because the limit has come...That's why i changed to what joynic offers, and i choosed the domain us.tt Also, i swiched from byethost to trap17, and i start to hate byethost, i love trap17!! it rocks

The biggest problem I have with those re-direct services is the Frame they place around your page. That is why the page URL never changes, because they have it trapped inside a Frameset. And the Frameset can contain ads. Also, it stops the individual page URLs from being referenced as per above comments. The Bots don't index the Frames properly and therefore, the Search Engine Bots never index anything but your index page, if that, even. Because they know which pages will be framed, I'll bet they rarely, if ever, visit those domains. Unlike the sub-domans here at the Trap. Due to the volume of searchable sites and the traffic through this Forum, the Google Bots (and others) seek out your site for indexing much more regularly.

.tk domains are of no use,this domains actually increase the ranking of the .tk website and you actually have no control over the domain,if your site content is powerful and it starts to get substantial amount of traffic then they will ask you to pay for it,and if you don't they can also duplicate your site and can run as theirs and you wont be able to do much

dot.tk has lots of ads. i know someone who uses dot.tk to redirect his site and the ads are quite annoying as well. like the other person has said, i'd rather not use a redirection url just for the purpose of shortening the url of my site. and besides, i'm planning on buying a .org or .com for my trap site

I was using dot tk service a long time back (aroung 2001) and there were too many ads and i could not disable them. .... and when my visitors turned their back on me.. my dot tk died

actually once you turn off ads you don'[t get that anymore^^^^^ i use it and it's great, the only thing is it is a cheap redirecting service but i cheap I guess .com is better if you have the money but i don''t have a credit card..... .tk is good enough for me, the only thing is the 30 days of inactivity limit

I don't like them. For many many reasons... A. I HAIT the screen that you have to go through to get to the website or forum. B. I HAIT the toolbar on top!!!! C. I HAIT that it is not a real domane it is just like a sub domane to bring your forum to it and not ON it.
