The online porno industry is preparing for a new .xxx domain, which will surely cause a frenzy since the new domain has been approved. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced the domain will become available most likely before the end of this year. The prices are expected to be around $75 US with no restrictions other than protecting children against pornography. The two non-profit orgainizations will oversee the management of the domains set. The ICM Registry will track the database and technical dealings, while the International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFOR) will be searching for the rules to manage the domain. Back in 2000, they attempted to approve the .xxx domain, but it was rejected by ICANN. It was met with rejection by some politicians who wanted it for the protection of children viewing these domains. Now that it will be used, there is concern over the companies and organizations who are being forced to use it for sensitive material. American Civil Liberties Union is worried that material such as homosexuality and birth control may be forced to use a .xxx domain, which in turn blocks those who need help and support for such topics.
Also you will get to know that there are any dialer on the sites. For example there has to be a law which says that you can only put dialer on your xxx page when you own a .xxx. domain. In my opinion, this would be a good thing
I don't really see anything good about this. It's not like porn sites are going to abandon .com domains and move to .xxx. Although I guess it's nice to know what to expect. It's a bit like knowing that an email from a .biz domain is probably spam or scam.

Yeah, I can't see that many of them dropping .com unless they're legally obliged to and in a lot of cases, they'll just move to servers in countries that don't have these sort of laws in place.

Well, I don't see why it exists in the first place, but if its enforced strictly enough, then sites would be forced to move or shut down. It helps those of us who have problems with spelling or punctuation who often visit sites they didn't intend to visit. But having a legal seperation and no reason to hide your trade would only increase the amount of sites that carry this on. Personally, I don't know why people look over things like that. Slavering over a human body and all - it's just what we all have anyway.
