Hi every one. This is a brief story of something that happened to me a couple days ago. I have a
ze4400 laptop, and a 2Wire router, wich can be accessed by USB, ethernet and wireless connections. I
first connected my lap to the router usin ethernet and configured everything to work like that, I
found the router registered my lap's name. I did so, because I couldn't get my lap to detect

I have a dell inspiron laptop which has an internal wireless card, the "Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN
Mini-PCI Card", manufactured by Broadcom. I am thinking of investing in an external wireless card
by a different manufacturer, as Broadcom's cards aren't compatible with a lot of things
(namely Linux distros) and an external card with a directional aerial would have a better signal
range and possibly quality of signal (recuced noise). Although, external wireless cards would be a
hinderence if you travel/use your laptop in your car, not that i use wireless features ...

Hi everyone, I bought a wireless router for internet acces for my laptop. I also have a desktop.
Both connect fine to the router and get good speeds on the internet. The thing is that I want to
set up a home network so that I can have file and printer sharing between my machines. I have the
run wizard on both machines several times (and created the install disks etc), but when I try to
"see" the other machine, it cannot connect. Can somebody please give me some tips/pointers? My

I have a WRT54G v5 router and ADSL with PPPoE and I'm experiencing problems with the router
dropping the Default gateway periodically. After browsing this forum for similar problems and
hopefully solutions with no luck on the solution part I decided to chat with Linksys. The guy I
chatted with suggested that I should try changing the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 instead
of 192.168.50.1 which I had set it to before. In my ears the tip sounded like rubbish, but I gave it
a try and it actually seems to be working. A sufficient amount of time hasn't passe...

something must be wrong with my wireless card. i know the problem isnt with the router because my
friend brought his laptop here and he gets a good range but when i bring my laptop down the stairs
the signal strength is nearly 0. if anyone had problems like this maybe you could give me some

I've read my local computer news and found this article. It's a new product from Netgear,
delivering 240 Mbps speed for wireless networks. That's insane! Really! It's faster
than the wired Fast Ethernet, running at 100 Mbps. If this product comes to sale in my country,

My Linksys BEFW11S4 had recently lost sensitivity to wireless connections and often had drop
packets. Pinging the router replies with "Request timed out". I'm thinking of getting a new
wireless router. I've not used other brands before but thought of changing brands as I'm
afraid another Linksys product might cause the same problem. However, as Linksys is part of Cisco, I
feel a certain sense of sercurity in Linksys products. I'm not sure which brands I should get.

I'm going to purchase a laptop to take to work with me. It will have wireless capability and I
was so excited that I will be able to access internet when things slow down at work. But, guess
what, when I talked to the IT people about this they told me their wireless is encrypted and I have
to have a key number to get into the network. I think this sucks!!!! LOL Very

Hi all, I am relatively new to the wireless world, but not to the networking world. We have some
major issues at work inregards to our wireless. We are going from XP to 98. Now the internet is on
the XP system, but I cannot access it off the 98. I do know that the wireless is working because I
can access all the shared folders on both units. Today I looked at the utility folder for the
wireless and we are only operating at 48% for a signal. Would this have something to do with not
