Hey,

Windows Vista was pubically realised worldwide yesterday my time. Will you be upgrading to Vista? Have you upraded to Vista?

I won't upgrade neither, due to the fact that some of my favorite programs will not work with vista.
not even by using compatability feature. also some drivers for my computer not compatable and no new ones available yet

I would like to say that windows is investing millions of dollars in world wide campaign of windows vista but according to the results on this forum it seems like people are not very keen to buy vista hmm. I am waiting to see first financial reports for windows vista. Its development costs and then returns from the sales.

It is still too early to buy vista as not lot of software is comatible with it. It is too slow too. Maybe when MS stops windows Xp later this year, then perhaps would it be a better or rather the only option.

I got windows vista. You know you can still buy compters with Windows XP so if you're buying don't be scared. I somehow got vista and installed it and found out it was the x64 bit version, so not much programs are compatible, but windows vista is good if you like having a sexy computer, it'll blend in with a 'sexy' looking case and stuff but for MY recommended system specs:
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 2.66GHz
4GB Corsair Dominator Memory
80GB HDD
2x nVidia GeForce 8800GTX

That'll keep you happy, anything under and it won't be so good.

Turns out, Vista came with my laptop I have. It has it's pluses and minuses. The looks are more customizable and can be personalized more which is nice. I really like the voice recognition tool. I can dictate what I want my computer to do, or type which is really helpeful. You can have it correct mistakes by speaking as well, it learns your voice the more you talk to it. It takes a bit of getting used to but there are some nice tools that come with it, when you hold the mouse over the window open at the bottom, it will show a small size of what is on the page or what is occurring. The problem for me is it used up too much system resources. I can't play the games I want to play on it because Vista itself is already using 69% of the physical memory and 14% of the CPU. So if you want to play games on it you are gonna have to spend a bit more for a better computer. I am going to keep Vista on my laptop though because I use it for school and samller things while my Desktop Computer will be for gaming and that I will keep XP on. It really depends what you want to do with your computer on whether you should upgrade or not.

Plenoptic have you ever searched how much your laptop would cost without vista sometimes windows come with computers for free sometimes you give big bucks on them so you might check this.

The biggest problem is and this thing no one considers is that people are not checking the computers when XP came on.

You see the thing here is that vista came a bit ahead of hardware the same thing happens with XP everyone were speaking how it uses way too much resources and you cannot run properly any program and so on and so on. But after some half year or even year everything stopped then everybody argued about XP security, I see that similar thing will happen also here. Because people are now saying how vista uses a lot of memory processor power and so on.

Well it does and this will not change however in the half year time or a year it will be casual system requirements. Computer hardware which will be sold in the half year time will in fact be normal and everyone will stop complaining. Of course considering those who buy new computers and so on.

Then they will find something new to complain against Microsoft it is always against Microsoft also I would like to say that Microsoft started revolution in computers and it will stay as that although people are mostly talking against them there are millions users for the Microsoft and will stay using Microsoft products. And furthermore, microsoft is always bringing new things to the general public even though Linux may have had it some years before them but it is alive when general public sees it and not five geeks somewhere.

officially not permitted, is there a way around? (5)
Hi all, I'm sure some of you gave a thought to this, why does Vista always show the login

always login to the computer" or something like that. That way if you used the same user 99% of the
time and wanted to keep a second user as say an administrator you could do so by setting that
option. If you ever wanted to switch to the "hidden" user you could do so with Log Off or Switch
