All my life, I've been using Windows. From 95 to 98 to 2000 and then XP..Finally I also used Windows Vista and went back to XP after a few months, because I didn't like it anymore - it just didn't work for me. I use Dell Inspiron 6400, so until recently it was impossible for me to have a MAC. But some time ago, it became possible for computers with SSE2/SSE3 processors, to install a modified version of Mac Leopard or Tiger... I was waiting and waiting for a good release and then Kalyway release came and I decided to go for it....I backed up my whole system and bam, I managed to install Leopard on my system and everything works! Right now I am going to buy a license, because it is worth it... Well now that I am able to compare mac with the windows crew, I have to say I am impressed. It looks good, it works, it doesn't lag, it just works so to speak... So yes, my vote went for MacOSX Leopard, which is the best operating system around in my opinion... The only thing I've noticed so far, is that I have a few long (but joyful) hours of finding good programs, because my old Windows versions don't work here...

Using mac osx was a terrible expeience, I'm good with a computer but the operating system just makes everything seem so hard and it looks terrible... Windows is better dispite it's creator companies many flaws. I want to try vista t o see if it's any good but my impressionis that its for people who can hardly use a pc and is all 'babyfied' but some features seem good like using a flash memory stick as extra ram that my friend talked about

QUOTE(kobra500 @ Jan 9 2008, 01:03 PM) I want to try vista t o see if it's any good but my impressionis that its for people who can hardly use a pc and is all 'babyfied' Actually, i've tried Vista before on this one laptop. It's nothing like XP; XP, in my opinion, is much simpler than Vista. In Vista they added in a lot of stuff—unnecessary stuff, in my opinion. Sure there's always eye candy, but that all goes down the drain for me if the UI is not convenient. I'm quite sure that, although you may be familiar with XP, you're going to have to navigate around Vista a bit to better understand it.

I have Windows XP and tried Windows Vista in other Computers. Well, I would stick with Windows XP because of it's Simplicity and uniqueness. I think Windows XP gives me all of the satisfying content that I really need. And besides, Windows Vista requires too much high system specifications and it's hard for me to adjust. I dont really think that Windows Vista will make people satisfied with it. First thing when I saw it's desktop, I saw the shiney effects and other things. But actually, I find it so boring. Unlike in Windows XP when I was on my desktop, I feel refreshed with it's simplicity and it's uniqueness. Also, I find Windows Vista's new features. Well, When I saw it, there are some things there that is not really important into a person. On the other hand, I also tried Ubuntu in our School. At first I thought it rocks but it's not. Like Windows Vista for me, I find it so boring. Although Ubuntu is distributed for free but Windows Vista is worthy to buy.

I have only used Windows (XP and the older versions like Windows 98, 2000) and Mac OSX Leopard. I have since forgotten what I liked most about 98 or 2000 because I have been using XP. But that was until January when I finally moved over to the Mac platform. Windows XP is just like what it is, simple to use but far too many exploits and I can find so many flaws in that OS which Leopard effectively fixes. The problem and concern about a Mac is the lack of software on it, but just how many types of applications do you want to have? Mac has the major applications like Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, the Adobe family. Though the Mac does not support many games, you have Boot Camp for that, to play PC platform games on a Mac. Personally I like how Leopard works as compared to Windows XP. Opening tonnes and tonnes of windows which are spread out over 4 different spaces. If I were to have these windows on XP, I will probably clutter my taskbar with an uncountable number of windows. I work more efficiently on a Mac than on Windows. When a certain application crashes, it doesn't affect the entire system, just the concerned application. I could give you more reasons why Leopard is definitely better than any Windows OS. The best part about Leopard is that you do not need 2GB of RAM to run it smoothly. But moving to a Mac OS at first wasn't easy, using cmd+click instead of right click took some getting used to as well as some of the other combinations which I am so familiar in XP. If you ever use Leopard, you won't regret it.

Hah, since Microsoft has gained a accomplished it's users, why dont you or some people try it. Maybe Linux would have more user than Microsoft Windows in the future! Linux need to be explored! Linux needs time to improve! Linux is not good or bad, but it's just okay for me. -Amiel

There is a big difference in how Microsoft is corrupted, and how Linux could become corrupted. Microsoft is centralized. The company can do whatever it wants, and if you don't like it - tough luck. Linux is much more de-centralized. Any company can distribute their own copy of it if they don't like certain parts of it.

Well I wouldnt't actually agree that linux will become corrupted as microsoft as you said it. Because microsoft is not corrupted company it is in fact byrocratical institution due to its largness. However, if and I really hope that it will not become so much popular as MIcrosoft operating system Windows it will become just the same MIcrosofts product. Since then hackers script kiddies will be able and will gladly write exploits for the Linux distributions and they are not doing so because of the simple fact there are not enough useers to do be feasible.

QUOTE If/When Linux gets to the point that it is pre-installed on computer Dell is already selling computers with Ubuntu Linux pre-installed. Linux was never meant to be a free Windows, and I doubt it will ever become that, and I'm quite happy with it. If it suddenly gains that much power, then it's bound to get corrupted like Microsoft.

Linux on a Mac (0) Why are there no good distributions of Linux for Macs? I have a MacBook with Mac OSX Tiger, Windows

just that most Linux users in their right minds would never pay for a Mac when they could build a
