I know im so optimistic aren't I? But its like everyone says "oh they will find a cure soon" and all this bs, but they probably wont. I mean the HIV, is very smart and tricky. Its always changing, and no strand [as in strands in inviduals] is the same as another, unless probably it comes from the same person, but because everyones body reacts to it differently, its never the same really. I just dont think they will find a cure...i mean they have ideas on how to maintain it, but its changed so much since the first case in america in what 1981?

It's more or less a problem with nation. If everybody didnt get bent out of shape every single time something happened, more progress could be made quickly. For example, 1 of the bills for stem cell research was looked down upon because it would be considered abortion. For a nation that wants something so badly, it puts up to many restrictions.

I don't really know. I like to think they will find a cure for AIDS or something to atleast neutralize it to keep it from doing anything. I mean we keep advancing in technology they might find something and you never can tell what is going to come out next. My friend's dad has found something to stop the growth of cancer so I'm sure something can be done about AIDS it might just take a lot longer than one might think.

I would, like them to find a cure for AIDS. But i am also against stem cell research, and animal testing. Which makes me kind of bad, because i am so into science, and i want to support science, but another part of me, is like saying that is so wrong

. I just don't think any one beings (animals, humans, fetuses), are more important then the other, i mean you kill like how many lab rats a day to end up with nothing, for several months, to several years. I do hate one thing also, is the fact that instead of scientists working together, they are working by themselves trying to find the cure faster, when really they should all work together. Im atleast glad, that when being told you have HIV, it is no longer a death sentence.

Wow quite interesting actually. I was just reading a book on conspirisies (dont know hot to spell it!) and one of the points brought up on there was Aids. It was first found in the USA with gay men ... I wont go into the details but you all probably know anyway!

Some of the points were that the US government were trying to get rid of all gays and blacks. Another point was that the USSR were trying to get rid of all Jews and Blacks. (Hence spreading to Africa).

Apparently they offered a vaccine and APPARENTLY it wasnt vaccince, just more of the AIDS virus.

The band Foo Fighters are behind an organisation that believes there is no such thing as AIDS and its just 3 different treatable illnesses that the government wont treat for...

But seriously, unless scientists open up their minds to new ways of looking at things, and cross moral boundaries nobody will find a cure.

Anyway, Jasper, the reason that all scientists don't group together to research cures is because not all of the ideas work and not all the scientists are needed. Having a hundred scientists working on a project that could be done by five will not make cell cultures grow any faster or results be any more accurate. It's all a time issue, not a personnel one.

As for lab testing on lab rats, not all vaccine ideas work, thus the need for so many test animals. During World War II, the Nazis got quick results from experiments by avoiding the animal testing and other experimental/developmental stages and operating directly on humans (in that case, Jews). Many died, but they got fast results and no animals were killed. Would you prefer that? Someone or something has to be tested to see if vaccines work, and animals are the best choice. They're quick to breed/grow, they are not self-conscious (sentient), and they are lower on the food chain. Are you a vegetarian as well? If so, I'd just like to point out that animals eat other animals as well, and we are animals, albet more intelligent ones (in some cases, anyway). Besides, the testing animals aren't treated like dirt. They are given as good a life as they could hope for. They are given good food and are kept clean and healthy. They return the favor by allowing themselves to be tested upon (which, in the case that something goes wrong, they would be put down and out of their misery), since they don't really offer any other purpose (they're not pets, after all). It's a better life than most wild animals could dream of.

As for stem cell research, I don't see what the problem is as long as the testing is done on pre-aborted fetuses (meaning babies that were aborted anyway - you might as well use what's left for the good of humanity while you can).

I believe, just like any disease and virus, that the cure is found in good health. Many vitamins and minerals help prevent many kinds of diseases, and even cure them. No drugs should be required to "fight off" any virus, or syndrome. If you improve your immune system, and maintain good health, your body should be capable of handling the attacks caused by the HIV virus, and/or any other kinds of infection. After a certain period of time, the body should be able to overpower the virus, and, in turn, quite possibly fully eliminate the virus.

Usually, if you're not tested positive for HIV, you will not be diagnosed with AIDS. Usually, to be diagnosed with AIDS, you have to be HIV positive, and have certain other symptoms--like, a decline in CD4 immune cells, a drop in T4 cells, tuberculosis, diarrhea, fevers, certain cancers, etc. These other symptoms can be easily taken care of. There are many HIV+ patients out there that take no drugs, and are eating healthy and maintaining their health, and are living normal lives.

HIV evolves so that it can defeat most cures. So that while one may work now, it won't in the near future.

Unfortunately, AIDS, even being one of the most deadly STDs, is the only one that doesn't have to be tested for and, if one tested positive, does not have to be announced as such.

Not to sound like one of those optimistic people, but in my opinion I do believe we will find a cure for AIDS and HIV. They said we would never find a cure for Small Pox, but we did. Same thing with Polio. However, I do think there is a cure for the problem already. I think people need to be tested more often for the virus. As long as those people who are infected don't spread it the virus will disappear.

I'm not saying quarantine people is the answer to the issue. Its just that I think the main reason this has become a problem is, because of people lack in responsibility in getting tested and if they test positive for the virus to not spread it to other people. I even think people who go off and spread the virus without knowing they had it in the first place are just as bad as spreading it and know you have it. If you are planning on going off and having sex with multiple partners, then you should get tested at least once a month. If you come up positive for the virus, its your job to go and get a hold of your partners and tell them they may have the virus too and to get tested.

People make honest mistakes, do you think someone who has HIV, or gets it...thinks "hey, i think i am going to have sex today, hopefully i will come down with something that will make my life a living hell", they don't and if they do

getting HIV, is the least of my concerns for them. People can Get HIV, at anytime, from any person, no matter how many times they have sex. Its like the game on computers, where you click the squares, and try to avoid the bomb, you may end up clicking the bomb the first time around, or maybe never...or in the middle of the game.

That's very short-sighted of you, since many completely innocent people get AIDS either from birth, from not realizing it exists (as in third-world countries), or even from unintentional contraction (i.e. partner/spouse lied or they were raped).

As for there being no cure, I'm positive that there will eventually be some kind of cure, even if it means the use of nanobots that physically destroy the virus. It will come eventually. Soon AIDS will take the course of smallpox (in being mostly extinct, I mean).
