Will Browsers Agree At Once On Standards? - it's very difficult to learn web design

For me it seems to be the easiest way to web design in Flash;at least things are clear here and the code will work in all browsers...I tried to learn html(not difficult at all)and css(easy but there are plenty of browser gliches )and after i tried to make a simple rollover or navigation bar work in all major browsers without javascript only css and failed, then i started searching for a linux flash clone or smth to be capable of exporting flash animation with some actionscript but the ones i found are in a very early stage of development.Do you have any experience with f4l(uira lately)or qflash or openLaszlo? Are there any others?I don't need to build games or complicated stuff but some 3 state buttons, navigation bars, simple animations...10x

Search engines cant read flash, so avaoid that biggrin.gif

Anyway, As long as you follow th W3C guidelines, you will be fine. All browsers must read code almost the same, and the W3C tried to regulate all this. IE, FF, Netscape and K-meleon render pretty much te same, but IE likes to mess up with messy code.

Ok, just out of curiosity I ran Google through the w3c validator to see if the coders wrote valid
code. I found out that Google had 50 errors. One of them was no DOCTYPE! I was surprised that Google
has sloppy coders like that. It's not just the fact that it is a big company that generates
millions of dollars, but the fact they have created one of the greatest search engines and can't
even code correct HTML. The code looks extremely messy. Here is a link to the validation page: ....

Hey what do you think is the best way to code a site to appear correctly on multiple browsers?

Made a new site recently? Want to know which tag will work (show up correctly) in which browser
(Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.0+, Opera 8)? Well, the Web Browsers Standards Support reference
is what you need. Not only can it tell you which tags are supported on the three browsers, but it
also tells you which CSS property is supported, which print property, and which voice property is
supported. Definately worth a bookmark. Link: http://nanobox.chipx86.com/browser_support.php

I know most people use IE but is there a way to browse your website as if it were other versions of
IE or even other browsers (Netscape, Opera, Firefox, etc.). I want know how I can test a website
for those browsers and older versions of IE. Obviously one way is to downlaod all the browsers and
test that way but it is something I am trying to avoid. Plus, I can't test older versions of
    IE. Any suggestions?....
