Maybe JavaScript www.crays.com/learn or www.w3schools.com 's JavaScript section. I think that JavaScript is the easiest scripting language, maybe PHP is easier, if you think that is the case then: http://www.oxyscripts.com/cat-2.html has a lot of more advanced PHP tutorials, easy ones can be found at http://www.phpbuddy.com/

I would suggest php, i'm learning php myself, and find it easier to understand than most programming languages. I'd suggest downloading the php manual found at www.php.net and for extra help going to www.phpfreaks.com

QUOTE(alexia @ Jun 23 2005, 05:02 AM) I dont know any scripting languages: Perl, PHP, asp, javascript etc. Which language would be better to start with? Any link to start with?(or I should start with google?)Let me know what good books are available. Well that is after you guys have recommended the language to start with javascript is almost as basic as html... after you learn that, it is a great starting point for other programing languages. After learning javascript php will be simple. There are TONS of javascript pages out there to help you get started.

Why not just start off with HTML? I found HTML slightly easier than Javascript.

There are a lot of good books out there...just go to your local bookstore and check out the computer/web programming section (or something similar). The next question is, do you want to learn server-side scripting or client-side? For client-side, definitely go with javascript. For server-side, I would highly recommend PHP, although you need hosting that supports it (same goes for ASP, Perl, and every other server-side language). Most of all, examine what you need to do with the scripting, that's your best guide!! Good Luck!!

Hm..I also set this question to myself many times! I always wanted to know hot to make programs, but as soon as I started learning anything just a lil bit I was dissapointed as it is so hard to learn how to do that! I stopped then thinking about it Otherwise I alwas enjoyed making websites and I must say that in all these years of using interface-programs I leanred html and php quite lot, mostly because I needed to as I had to correct a mistake, insert JAVA or something.. That was not acctually an answer to your question, but it is helpful beacuse you know that you are not alone with this problem greetz
