If there was no internet... I would probably have a darker tan. I would play a lot more Nintendo Wii. I would not be going to school to major in CS. I would not have a computer because computers aren't fun without the internet, I would use the computers at school. I would probably have higher grades in school because I wouldn't of spent all my time in junior high playing MMORPG's. LOL. I would be in better shape - that's for sure. My girlfriend would be a lot happier. (But she can live!) It would suck writing book reports because I wouldn't have access to ways to cheat on reading the book like SparkNotes. I wouldn't of seen Paris Hilton's tape! I would have to watch the sad sad local news to get my weather forecast... That would be terrible.

It was 4am. I was sitting at the computer. I had been there for an hour as I had gotten up to follow up on an idea that I had. Suddenly my pointer wouldn't move. I tried using the mouse but there was no response. I could use the keyboard but there is only so much that you can do without a mouse. I remembered wistfully the time before there were mice. But I went on to more troubleshooting. I have a wireless mouse so it has a red light underneath it and a green light on the part that goes to the keyboard. Both were lit up bright. I fiddled with the battery anyhow. No change. I restarted the computer. The pointer showed up on the middle of the screen and wouldn't move. I restarted it again. No change. I began to believe that my mouse had died. I had no backup. At 4am where could I get another mouse? Then the withdrawal symptoms set in. I began to panic. I was not going to have access to anything with my computer until I could get another mouse. What would I do instead? My first thought was to go back to bed and avoid the morning until I could look for a mouse. I thought of this topic and resolved that I would make a post as soon as I could get back to it. I just hoped that Trap17 wasn't down like it was for awhile yesterday. That was another case of withdrawal. I couldn't do what I had grown accustomed to doing. I played around with a couple of other things on my computer. It became obvious to me that being at the computer is my chosen activity. At this point my boyfriend Bill came into the room. I told him what the situation was. He pulled out his laptop and let me test my mouse on it. It didn't work there either. He took out a battery and replaced the one in the mouse. Suddenly it worked again. I felt a rush of relief. My morning was saved. I have been thinking about what I would have done if I couldn't get my computer working again. What would be a 'worthwhile' pursuit? I have my crochetting, reading, walking, doing errands, calling someone, starting a new hobby, eating, sleeping, sewing, and whatever else I could think of at the moment. People say I could do 'more productive' things than being at the computer, but what is 'more productive'? This topic shows that people believe that there are such things, but I haven't seen very many examples of what they would be. What do you think they are?

If there was no internet I'd always have my band to fall back on so I guess I would probably just play guitar everyday or something like that seeming as I'm a web developer I would probably have some low level job probably or be a lawyer or something which is kinda scary thank everything for the internet.

dude if there was no internet my life would be devastated because the internet is how i talk to all my old friends and look funny pictures and a bunch of other junk. on the other hand i would not be wasting away in front of the computer screen all day doing nothing but giving myself carpel tunnel (or however you spell it) anyways lets just hope the internet does not go down for good.

It would be pretty dull without the internet. Internet is now quite a necessary tool. A large part of our lives today depend on it. From applying to college to staying in touch with friends. It has made the world a much smaller place. Without the internet maybe I would be still watching tv.

If there was no internet what can one do except going behind libraries. If the internet was not available ,in oder to get information i would have browsed through books and in the amount of time and the money i spend on the computer or on the net center today will be spent on books and Libraries. Some say life without internet wold have been impossible , but i say still i would have been possible.

If no internet existed then I'm sure something else would exist, probably people would be much more athletic than before and finding playing outside much more enjoyable than sitting inside a dull home. Then again people might start finding staring on a snail amusing, please dont wish for a life without internet... thats just madness...

(0) Qoodaa Communications , which has been devoted to developing internet transfers services, innovates
and develops a new P2P technology, called MNP2P for short. It creates a new epoch of internet
transfers acceleration for large files. It is well known that the main downloading accelerative ways
are P2P and CDN. However, the traditional P2P needs multi-users download at the same time to
guarantee its downloading speed. BT is the most classic example of P2P. But CDN can ensure

Rich Internet Application - Who Is Going To Win The Race?
(7) Last couple of months we can see the competition between 3 major Companies Adobe, Sun and Microsoft.
Everyone wants to win the race. They introduced 3 products to develop RIA (Rich Internet
Application). Flex - Adobe. Silverlight - Microsoft JavaFX - Sun Flex is already in Production,
they have released Flex 3.0 beta. Flex SDK is open source and Blaze Data Services (part of Flex
needed for Server side Programming) is open source. but Flex IDE and LifeCycle (Super Set of

Is It Possible To Destroy The Internet?
(99) I have always wondered if it is impossible to destroy the internet all together... is this even
possible? If it is possible to destroy the internet what would you have to do? Would you have to
destroy all the Internet companys like comcast and aol? Or would that not even take care of it?
Just think, if someone took down the entire internet not only would our lives be boring but it would
basically destroy the U.S. & other big countries all at once.....

Skype Rule
Talk for free on the internet (7) This has been available for a while, but I only recently. This is a Voice over IP program that
allows you to talk to anyone on the internet anywhere provided they have the same program. The
software is free. The real amazing thing is the new feature you can now have real phone number. That
means someone can call you from a normal landline and you can call other landline numbers. They have
also just added the live video software also for free, so if you have a web cam you can see the
other person. I know, I know it is not all that new, but this is the first software that ....

Broadband In Gas
Carrying internet over gas pipelines (5) I recently read about a company called Nethercomm that is promoting a broadband in gas technology.
Apparently, this company has some patents pending on devices that can be installed in gas pipelines
that go to commercial and residential buildings to provide the "last mile" connection for broadband.
It appears the technology is based on radio frequencies propogated down the gas pipe as a wave
guide. Nethercomm boasts data rates up to 40 Mbps are possible to the home. Anyone know of any
actual implementation/trials of this technology going on presently?....
Internet Telephony - Any Experiences?
(10) I was wondering if anybody had any experience with internet telephony or voIP. I've tried Skype
with mixed results, and recently read an article about a number of fairly large companies who have
adopted it as a money saving venture. In the UK BT announced yesterday a new phone service whereby
when you take your phone outside your home it uses the Vodafone network, and when you use it at home
it automatically uses voIP over bradband. Sounds interesting.......

Internet Explorer.... With Tabs!
(22) Yes, it’s finally true. Stuck on like a big band aid, courtesy of MSN Toolbar 1.2, we have IE with
tabs. Well ahead of the release of Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft has done what they just absolutely
needed to do, and have provided tabbed browsing for Internet Explorer. Things are fairly undeveloped
at this stage, but reports talk about it running fast and supporting most features you'd want.
"It's a more powerful functionality in a pretty robust tool offering, which already has a
number of differentiators with form fill and the access to MSN services in the t....

it clears out all your internet activity, e.g. sites visited, temporary files, etc... then when it

active program. This will prevent someone else using your computer to find out what site's you

Microsoft Confirmed IE7 Compatible with XP and newer
Internet Explorer 7 only for XP (26) Micrsoft confirmed what we've already expected. The new-coming explorer IE 7 will only be
compatible with windows XP and newer. The two reasons why old dinosaurs that still use Windows 2000
and lower won't be able to use the new IE are: 1. state in which is the extended support of
Windows 2000 and 2. mostly of technical nature (IE 7 is goin to have a few security updates and
imporvements, which bases on the functionality of the new XP SP2 and this is the reason for its
incompatibility with other versions of Windows) Source: Slashdot ....
Voip(voice Over Internet Protocol)
real money saver (16) VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the communication technology of the future for sure. Legacy
technology carries voice signals over analog circuits and lines. Voice over IP converts the analog
signal to digital and transports the signal to the receiver where it is converted back from digital
to analog and the receiver hears the sender's voice. This provides a more efficient and
economical means of communication. I have know VOIP for quite a some time since i started online.
Most of the time i use msn messeger or yahoo messeger to chat with my friends. Recently,....
