QUOTE(no9t9 @ Feb 11 2005, 04:16 AM) If there was no internet then I would have a life. I would go out and be active doing things like jogging, rollerblading, or football. I would not be the fat slob that I am right now.
I would also develop social skills because I would have to go out and make friends and hang out with them. Ideally, I would like to develop wit and sarcasm.
But, since the internet is here and looks like it will stay... I retire to my room so that I am able to continue being a fat, witless, slob. Ahhh...you're too hard on yourself. Anyway, there was no interenet, like 20 years ago, my god, has it been that long already? Actually, i don't know when teh internet came out, do you? --i still remember it, though, being naked, huddled under the trees together to keep in body heat. Catching our food with our bare hands, tearing the flesh off the wild animals --Urm... maybe we were alittle more...civilised. But not much!

This is a tough question, I can't go more then 5 hours without being on the computer, unless I'm drunk and with friends, lol. I probaly would just become a tv addict and watch tv all the time, or get a job and work every chance I could and get some money, I love money. Not sure though, but I know I would lead a boring life without the internet, lol.

My income does not depend on what I do with my time so I choose to spend it at my computer. I have a website with a blog that is hosted by trap17. So not only do I spend time at my site but I also post here on the forums to keep my credits up. My site provides me with a place to keep track of my Works in Progress and my blog lets me share my thoughts with others. These are things that I probably would not be able to do as well without the Internet. I also pay a lot of my bills online, I have communication with others through my email, and I keep a photobucket. Now for what I would do without my connection to the computer. I really don't know. I have spent much time trying to define what to do with my life and the time and energy I have available. If internet was not available, what would you spend your time doing? That is much of what this topic is about. I don't have a good answer.

I think the best question would be "what do you do when the power goes out". What I do is I sometimes read a book but usually I just sit around bored or workout . Of course if my computer still turns on and I just don't have internet I play Empire Earth not online or work with Dreamweaver so when it does come back on I have something to do. If the weather is good outside I like to go for a run up my hill or go biking. If your REALLY bored I wonder around the house while talking to my friends on the phone. The first thing I do when it goes out though is to call up the internet provider and flame them until they send out a technition to help me and if they refuse to I figure it out myself. seez: EXACTLY! Casino: But what would you buy without the interwebs to tell you?!?!!? I guess commercials work but you can't get uber good deals without eBay!

Qoodaa Mnp2p Creates A New Epoch Of Internet Transfer

Qoodaa Communications , which has been devoted to developing internet transfers services, innovates
and develops a new P2P technology, called MNP2P for short. It creates a new epoch of internet
transfers acceleration for large files. It is well known that the main downloading accelerative ways
are P2P and CDN. However, the traditional P2P needs multi-users download at the same time to
guarantee its downloading speed. BT is the most classic example of P2P. But CDN can ensure
downloading quality under the circumstance that there are a few downloading users and there is e...
Is It Possible To Destroy The Internet?
- (99)
I have always wondered if it is impossible to destroy the internet all together... is this even
possible? If it is possible to destroy the internet what would you have to do? Would you have to
destroy all the Internet companys like comcast and aol? Or would that not even take care of it?
Just think, if someone took down the entire internet not only would our lives be boring but it would
basically destroy the U.S. & other big countries all at once....

Broadband In Gas
- Carrying internet over gas pipelines (5)
I recently read about a company called Nethercomm that is promoting a broadband in gas technology.
Apparently, this company has some patents pending on devices that can be installed in gas pipelines
that go to commercial and residential buildings to provide the "last mile" connection for broadband.
It appears the technology is based on radio frequencies propogated down the gas pipe as a wave
guide. Nethercomm boasts data rates up to 40 Mbps are possible to the home. Anyone know of any
actual implementation/trials of this technology going on presently?...

Rich Internet Application - Who Is Going To Win The Race?

Last couple of months we can see the competition between 3 major Companies Adobe, Sun and Microsoft.
Everyone wants to win the race. They introduced 3 products to develop RIA (Rich Internet
Application). Flex - Adobe. Silverlight - Microsoft JavaFX - Sun Flex is already in Production,
they have released Flex 3.0 beta. Flex SDK is open source and Blaze Data Services (part of Flex
needed for Server side Programming) is open source. but Flex IDE and LifeCycle (Super Set of
BlazeDS) is not free. Silverlight and JavaFX is still under alpha release. I believe these three te...
Microsoft Confirmed IE7 Compatible with XP and newer

Micrsoft confirmed what we've already expected. The new-coming explorer IE 7 will only be
compatible with windows XP and newer. The two reasons why old dinosaurs that still use Windows 2000
and lower won't be able to use the new IE are: 1. state in which is the extended support of
Windows 2000 and 2. mostly of technical nature (IE 7 is goin to have a few security updates and
imporvements, which bases on the functionality of the new XP SP2 and this is the reason for its
incompatibility with other versions of Windows) Source: Slashdot ...
Voip(voice Over Internet Protocol)
- real money saver (16)
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the communication technology of the future for sure. Legacy
technology carries voice signals over analog circuits and lines. Voice over IP converts the analog
signal to digital and transports the signal to the receiver where it is converted back from digital
to analog and the receiver hears the sender's voice. This provides a more efficient and
economical means of communication. I have know VOIP for quite a some time since i started online.
Most of the time i use msn messeger or yahoo messeger to chat with my friends. Recently,...

Skype Rule

This has been available for a while, but I only recently. This is a Voice over IP program that
allows you to talk to anyone on the internet anywhere provided they have the same program. The
software is free. The real amazing thing is the new feature you can now have real phone number. That
means someone can call you from a normal landline and you can call other landline numbers. They have
also just added the live video software also for free, so if you have a web cam you can see the
other person. I know, I know it is not all that new, but this is the first software that ...
Internet Telephony - Any Experiences?

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with internet telephony or voIP. I've tried Skype
with mixed results, and recently read an article about a number of fairly large companies who have

when you take your phone outside your home it uses the Vodafone network, and when you use it at home
it automatically uses voIP over bradband. Sounds interesting......
Internet Explorer.... With Tabs!

Yes, it’s finally true. Stuck on like a big band aid, courtesy of MSN Toolbar 1.2, we have IE with
tabs. Well ahead of the release of Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft has done what they just absolutely
needed to do, and have provided tabbed browsing for Internet Explorer. Things are fairly undeveloped
at this stage, but reports talk about it running fast and supporting most features you'd want.
