i think it is a problem but it isn't gonna kill us so we should do a little more research before people anounce to the world we are all gonna dye.that is just my honest opinion,if you don't agree well then just remember that is only my opinion. [font=Arial Black]

Well no one really knows. heck we've only been keeping records of it for what now? 30 years? maybe less. Heck the earth is a lot older than that. So I think instead of making assumptions and choosing fear mongering as a selling point for disaster, let's use long terms facts, and we have none of those yet.
It's been found that the largest producer of greenhouse gasses are plants, themselves, so apparently the enviroment manages to balance things out one way or another.
Ah 'tis my subject. I've done a bit of research in this for some projects of mine for school. I got to talk with some former professor at Harvard about it, but I can't quote stuff because I don't remember the exact words so bear with me. =)

There most certainly is a cycle. If we allow it to continue by not stopping our greenhouse gas releasing, it will result in the human race (and other species) becoming extinct (eventually... talking 100-200 years or so), or at least some chaos because we'll run out of oil eventually as well. Whichever happens, right after there will be an immediate decrease of the amount of CO2 being released, and thus the temperatures will cool down again. I'm not sure if the cycle will start up again and have life form after that, though... =p

I'd love to see some evidence of that. Can you explain the amazing increase in the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere recently? It is a huge difference, and I don't see how anyone can say that it naturally occurred. Here's a graph of it I found online, though I cannot guarantee its validity, I doubt that it is inaccurate. As you can see, it was previously going up and down, but staying at a somewhat constant amount. Until about 1900.

yeah, about the time of the car invention...
as for the fact of global warming, i hate the heat, but i do what i can and that is it... i know some people are going to say how stupid of you....blah..blah..blah..blah, dont bother...because i dont relaly care..
but hey, there was the ice age, now we will have the heat age blah i hate it
We are talking about the issue in Australia alot. Its crunch time for the world.
Sustainable Fossil Fuel Cambridge University Press, January 19, 2006 More and more people believe we must quickly wean ourselves from fossil fuels oil, natural gas and coal to save the planet from environmental catastrophe, wars and economic collapse. Professor Jaccard argues that this view is misguided. We have the technological capability to use fossil fuels without emitting climate-threatening greenhouse gases or other pollutants. The transition from conventional oil and gas to unconventional oil, unconventional gas and coal for producing electricity, hydrogen and cleaner-burning fuels will decrease energy dependence on politically unstable regions. In addition, our vast fossil fuel resources will be the cheapest source of clean energy for the next century and perhaps longer, which is critical for the economic and social development of the worldıs poorer countries. By buying time for increasing energy efficiency, developing renewable energy technologies and making nuclear power more attractive, fossil fuels will play a key role in humanityıs quest for a sustainable energy system.
well it is quite a bad one as it does not do anything quickly but over the longer periods of time it is when it causes the damage as there will probolly be no fatal effect for the next 400 or 500 years but that is when it will start becoming deadly i think
i say that because if you look at it over the past 100 odd years they have recorded a steady increase in temperatures. the problem is not so much that it is getting warmer it is how this is effecting everything else like how it is melting the ice caps or how it is playing hovoc with the seasonal changes and things like that and at the moment it is ok. It iis only going to get worst is something is not done about as this already made it alot harder for certain crops to be grown and even for certain wild life to sustain it self because of the way everything has change.
The one thing i don't understand is why the are still so reliant on fossil fuels and things like oil, i can't see why they can't produce a synthetic oil which they should be able to make alot cleaner and even cheaper, they must the technology to do this !! Almost everything else in this world they have been able to make synthetic versions of it !!!
i think it is just easier to carry on pulling it out the ground likes there is no tomorrow. They don't put any effort in and who ever is the person who owns that is a multibillionare because everyone else is also to lazy. But one day they will not have anymore of these resources and then what will happen ??

Well do you want it to go in a full cycle? The average tempature is rising FASTER, much fater then it did the first time. And the volcanoes in the ocean will go off in about 10 years if it heats up at the same rate and cause everyting to go off.
Is it a problem? Well it is. No one can say it isnt unless they really are just ignorant. The fossil fules create clouds that block the heat so the Earth dosnt heat up. On 9/11/01 when the downed all the planes the average heat went up a whole degree. Now that dosnt sound like much but its usually dosnt change that much ever. If we were to just stop all the fossil fules making are Earth WOULD heat up. So im not sure how they are going to ever fix this, but we have about 10 years and then there is no going back. The Earth will be unsavable because the heat will have increased to much to save. This dose not mean that the Earth is gone in 10 years it means that there is no saving the Earth after those 10 years and nature will be in charge.
I saw this on Nova or Frontline can't remember, but it's very interesting. I might be wrong on a few things because i watched it well over a month ago, but i was pretty close. Did anyone else see this?
i think it's our guilt, every day we trash the garbage, use our cars, only buying products that consumes several natural resources we are killing our planet, this is our problem and we have to do something.
but listen well, there is one country that is the most guilty of this planet, and you know of what country i'm talking about, and it's name is:
United States Of America. guilty. you are the 40% of our planet garbage and contamination!. i think you are sick! and your president is the most sick of all, in heart and mind!, and i better shut up or they will ban me.
Global warming is a problem, but its a widespread problem and its darn near impossible to get EVERYONE to listen. there will always be a group of people who dont like the ideas of others. think about it. were all going to die one day, and its more then likely going to be from something we inflicted upon ourselfes
I agree, it's a cycle. Our alternatives also don't look so great either, why don't we all just stop burning fossil feuls, and why don't we all just stop our lives while we're at it, too. If we start slowly however, like with hybrid cars, then I think we can control the problem. And anyway, how long will humans stay on the earth anyway? 95% of all species have died out, aren't we next?
I'm not worrying much about global warming, I'll be long dead before anyone feels any of the effects, and as just a mere citizen there is really nothing I can do and nothing I have time to do. As simple as that.
I also agree that it is a cycle, or it is forming a cycle (as in it will eventually fix itself if we let it get to far). But I think that we (as human beings) have the ability to stop it from getting too much worse. We will stop burning fossil fuels suddenly if we don't start reducing the amount we are using RIGHT NOW, or else we will all of a sudden run out of fuels and lots of chaotic things will occur all at once for EVERYONE.
Though 95% of all species may have died out, and we very well might be next, were all of the other species AWARE of the fact that 95% of them died out? We have much more of a chance of survival with our thinking capacity than the others. Why are we condemning ourselves to extinction by destroying our mostly functional ecosystem? You need to worry about Global Warming now, as we are allready experiencing the affects of it (see my previous post)! IT's just going to get worse, and the rate at which it gets worse will increase as its affects take place (Less ice caps = less "cold" coming from them = more heat just from that, not to mention the warming that occurs from global warming alone).

The main environmental cue that initiates winter dormancy in mosquitoes has to do with seasonal
changes rather than temperature change. The main reason why mosquitoes in Canada are becoming
genetically similar to those of mosquitoes in southern U.S. is because of climate change. The two
climates are becoming much similar and since the mosquitoes change genetically according to seasonal
change rather than temperature change they have become more alike genetically. Evidence such as the
simulation of the southern climate showed a fitness loss of about 88%, but this was due....
Is it coincidence that there are so many news events of increased extreme weather events, for

Looking at localized events it may be easy to think it is just the regular occurrences for example;
hurricane season. But looking at it globally it really starts to look as if the world is changing.
This year weve had very hot summers in the U.S, and Europe and floods in Ethiopia and China. The
main concern is that Ethiopia is always regarded as a drought ridden place, yet now t....
