| | Windows XP is the best, because it can support all programs, even programs from 1990s.
It also looks so good. But the only negative about it is that it can only be operated at high requirements. like high RAM and proccesor |

that is true. Longhorn requires you to have a very high performance computer for you to run. I think it requires something like a 2.8 GHZ as the recommended speed to run it :S xboxrulz

I choose Windows because of the game selection. I am a Linux fan. Gaming is the only thing that keeps me using Windows.

My computer was a low performance (too slowly ). I must remove Longhorn but i'v just up grade my computer to 2.0 GHZ and 128 of Ram. I'm not sure i can trans to Longhorn again!! Longhorn have a beautiful themes and more choices.

For me its a tie between win2k and winxp. My desktop plays games perfectly with winxp but my notebook doestn't work as well. It has to use win2k. I would use win2k on my desktop but I dont have the drivers for my comp.

For me, Win XP has the most game support. It can run most older games and all new games play pretty well on XP.

that's not true, it's because 95% of the world uses the crappy Windows OS! (my support posts are mainly inside the Open Source post in this category) xboxrulz

I recommend XP too because it is more supported by game producers and more games that come out for PC are supported by XP. So unless you want to play boring games i would suggest XP for the gaming OS. Linux or Unix dont have much fun games supported or w/e you had in mind. I dont htink anything else has more games supported

Linux is getting more and more support in games; but the games sometimes have to come out with Windows as a co-OS development. These games include: America's Army, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory Fortress (remake of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory), Unreal Tournament 2004 and Quake 3. xboxrulz

The Operating System's Security
(5) When it comes to security, which operating system would you think a business would get to keep
everything safe. I know when i get my web design and hosting business going later in my life I will
choose Unix OS. Any busisness or hosting company will choose Unix to base my security on. Most
"Windows Users" will want to use Windows Server. I mean thats an ok OS to start out on but Unix is
basically free and open source and has a better security than Windows does. When i get my own hosing
server set up i will use Unix to base it.....
Rate An Operating System!
I need this info for my comic strip. (0) I have a very irregular comic strip that I make, and I want my next strip to be in the spirit of
XKCD's comic "f--- grapefruit", and rate operating systems instead. I'm running a poll
here, based on whether people think an operating system is better than Windows 2000 or not, which
I'm going to use as a benchmark (sea-level point) for rating systems. The rating system is on 3
axes, "usefulness", "reliability", and "security". Basically, for the poll, check which ones you
think are more useful than Windows 2000 on the first poll, which ones are more reliable ....
Operating Sys Deleting
HD deletes operating sys (9) Help! has anyone ever heard of a hard drive deleting a Operating system? I have a old HP that I had
been playing with, trying to fix it up for a friend young son to mess around with. It had no
Operating system in it to start with. I had a old hard drive laying around that had windows 98 in
it which was perfect for the old HP due to memory and being just a 286. Well, I removed the old HD
and put in the one with the 98. Booted up great. even got on the net with it for a bit, then I had
to run out for a bit so I shut it down. When I got back, I turned it back on to instal....
Ubuntu Linux As Free Operating System Alternative
linux operating system (47) About three years ago I decided to learn how to use Linux and after a lot of posts on a forum I
tried Ubuntu Linux as it was recommended as a good first Linux distro. Ubuntu is not the easiest
Linux distro to use but with its unmatched forum community support it is one of the easiest to learn
to use. One of the problems with learning Linux is that a lot of users have an attitude that Linux
should be a free Windows knock off which it is not. Ubuntu is build on a Linix core or kernel and is
a different Open Source and free as in to use operating system. This brings us to t....
Ubuntu Users: Available Games?
(2) Alright, right now I'm using Windows 2K SP4 but I'm planning to move to Ubuntu just by the
mere reason that I can't afford the 100 dollar Windows XP. I'm still in high school and I
don't have a job that's why I still can't afford all my desires. But I hear Ubuntu is
pretty good and even Dell is planning to use it for its future computers. I'm a gamer and a web
developer and programmer. I have no concerns about IDE's such as NetBeans or Aptana and other
Open source IDE's because of linux support. Instead I'm more concerned with....

as Windows Vista. I have never run windows vista before but i heard from a friend it is much more
advanced than Windows XP, so i got on the phone with the tech and asked if it would be possible to
get windows XP on it instead of Vista But i was told that Windows Vista is the ....
Linux - Why It Fails As A Desktop Operating System?
(34) Linux is becoming such a craze nowadays that not even a single day passes without one or other
distribution releasing a new version. But why is it failing so miserably in the desktop arena. The
answer lies in three reasons. 1. The plethora of distributions -
Redhat,Debian,Ubuntu,Suse,Gentoo,Knoppix - everbody and his uncle is coming out with new ones. 2.
The lack of backward compatibility - I had Redhat 7.3 running. I upgraded to Redhat 9. Many
applications had to be recompiled. You ask my mom to recompile applications - She will throw out
Linux and take Windows anyday. ....
What Is: Os
What is Operating System? (17) Well it i s kind of obvious, but i have gotten many questions from people on here before asking me
what some people ment by OS..and so i explained it to them, and i thought i might be able to explain
it to other people on here OS aka Operating System OS is short for Operating
System. An Operating System is the system in which a computer operates on. Basicly it manages all
of the other processes/programs that you put on the computer.. As defines by google it is:

Games Failing To Load

Dragonshard) all fail to load. When I try to load the game, the cursor changes to the game cursor,
but the rest of the screen goes blank. Dragonshard doesn't eve get that far. It gives me the
same problem, but in the installation screen. If I do a clean book, which is outlined here , the
games seem to work. I was just wondering if anyone out there know which "background programs" might
be doing this. Many thanks,kvarnerexpress....

Indian Operating System
i just find... (1) I think Linux sweeping the world was a bit of a premature prediction (what everyone in relatively
intellectual circles was saying in the late 90's and very early 2000's). Microsoft with a
true oligopoly that has crushed the chances of any third party OS, like BeOS, one of the most
promising OSes of the 90's IMHO. Linux and Unix really need a serious internal structural revamp
(like the NT system does of course), perhaps even a change to a server based OS; I guess that would
sort of be a total rewrite of all the code though Copied from "Olorix" on http://fo....
