Best of luck to you.
I know exactly how you must be feeling.
I have an exam next Sunday (for my brown belt with red stripe though), but that is Shotokan Karate, this belt is the one just before black 1st Dan.
Once again, good luck!

Well I used to take Tae Kwon Do. I liked it and made it till like green belt. It was soothing and refreshing after the sore body recovered.

Congratulations.
i hope you get far in the all Australian Championship.
Which reminds me, I have a TISKA British championship on Saturday the 10th of November.
My injury should be completely forgotten by then.
(Or at least I hope so).

Well, it has been a few weeks now, however, it stopped me from doing my hrading for my brown belt with red stripe, as a result I had to put it off until December.
I had a crack in one of the bones of my foot (might sound like nothing, but extremely painful, I can tell you).
It all happened very stupidly: going home through a park, due to the weather the soil being a bit soft (muddy).
All of a sudden I walk a bit faste and due to the kind of trainers I was wearing the front of my foot sort of like gets caught in the ground, while I try to walk on.
All of a sudden, there's me down on the grass, in excruciating pain and with a foot the size of a balloon.
(Hasn't got "Happy Birthday" written on it, though). blush.gif
Anyway, the worst thing is, I have been told, since I am diabetic, to avoid injuries to legs and feet.
Like two weeks on trainig, where an opponent blocked a kick, skin peeled off and the day after I had an infection.
I guess Y am in a no win situation here.

I'm a black belt (1st dan) in Wado-Ryu Karate, I train from two to three times a week and I'm just about ready to start training for my second dan.

  5. What Is Martial Arts Exactly?
    Fighting, or anything? (2)
I was looking through the topics in this section, and I saw yoga as a form of martial arts. And I
started to wonder what exactly martial arts was. I thought it was the art of fighting, or practicing
for fighting, or it at least had to have something to do with fighting. So how does yoga fit into
that? So, I was just wondering, does anyone have a concrete definition of martial arts? Does it

I have studied martial arts for self defense only. French Savate was too deadly to be

    The Japanese Martial Art (2)
Greetings, all. I was wondering if there is anyone in the community who is practicing, or is
considering practicing the Japanese martial art of Aikido. If so, is there anyone who would like to
share the techniques involved in it? From what I know, Aikido, unlike the other martial arts, is
more about channeling your opponent's energy against him/herself, rather than relying on a
full-out attack style (punching and kicking), like karate or judo. There's also an interesting
philosophy behind it, as well documented by the great teacher Morihei Ueshiba. So...from h....
  9. How Do You Train For Your Martial Art, Sport?
    What's Your Way? (15)
Ok, so I was inspired to write this after a conversation with some fellow boxers from my local gym.
I would just out of interest like to find out how everybody trains, and if there is a trend between
the intensity of their training and their related sport. As a boxer, and also a martial artist I
have to say that I don't really follow a set program. I am very much one of the people that
prefer to just simply train and train, and not make any days off, or set programs, or easy shifts,
or 'rewinds' or what ever else the latest trend tends to be. I prefer to fo....
