For creating web based things Windows XP is a good system to have with Studio 8 and CS 2 available for it. As a server and as a catalyst for a web browser any version of Windows stinks because you really need to dabble and waste processor power on security hogs like Norton and SpySweeper.

One question, do you want to know exactly about internet performance or creating internet based things?

A system with a celorn processor is enough to use internet. But if you want to view the multimedia contents like straming video and podcasting then you'll need a pentium class machine.

From what I got out of it I'm guessing he wants to know what operating system is best for the internet. For servers or creation it beats me because he throws in server OSes and home OSes..

Well, then I can give my particular oppinion about that. Since I'm using Windows Vista at the moment, all I can say is that I don't notice any major differences in terms of stability and/or performance when using the internet. There could be some minor details that I can't compare with precision, but overall, I don't notice any meaningful difference between XP and Vista. Of course the browser and system settings can have an impact on internet stability, but that's not the case.

For home - XP. It proberly would be Vista when its released but theres still ALOT of programs on XP that aren't written for Vista. Espically things like firewalls and anti-virus programs.

i think the XP works great i dont really think the difference in computers changes how fast ur internet goes much though becuase it really depends on your connection...and you computer just basically displays the web content...unless you put in prgrams from adobe or macromedia then yeha that makes a hell of a difference....its stuff stored in your computer...

This should help you decide.... Seriously though, it depends on the end-user's preferences. I say this because of the all the viruses one can get. Of course, other operating systems have disadvantages too, in terms of user-friendliness, and varieties of programs. Macs have quite the key-combinations required in order to bring up certain menus. Linux... Linux is quite a thing all on it's own. It's hard to talk about Linux because of the countless numbers of distrubutions there are. But a common thing I've found across Linux distributions id that necessary use of the Terminal. Usually when you need to install a program, but you don't have all the dependancies that program needs, you have to install them through the Terminal. If you want simplicity and an easy Interface, use Windows. If you want a good amount of security but still want to use programs such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, et cetera... then use MacIntosh. And if you want to join a minority community of Open-Source, use Linux. Of course all operating systems take time to get used to. You wouldn't want them all to be similar to Windows, would you? I'd hate that.

Well your question can be understood in various ways. I'll try to answer for all the option so one will probably be the one you are interested in As far as security is concerned the wide-spread knwoledge tells us that MAC is the best when it comes to security. Although Windows Vista is also a lot better security-wise in comparison to earlier versions of Windows. So if you want maximum sceurity - choose between the two! Internet has many uses so I assume that you just want to surf and have fun - for a normal user Windows are great for that, because its GUI is simple and everybody knows it nowadays. Plus almost all programs are supported in any windows above 98! If you want to create internet sites, you can also go with Windows or MAC, because the two main programs (Macromedia Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop) are both made for both operating systems... Here you go, I hope that clears it up for you a little bit - if you want more specific answers, please post a more specific question! Best whishes

Windows XP would be the best as it is stable and many update and security packs have been released for the OS but of course linux hands down is the most secure system to be out their even up to this day.

tried installing this 4 times altogether, and nothing. it keeps restarting continuously more then 40
times. The only time it restarts is after the BIOS loads, when switching/restar...
Windows Xp: Explorer.exe Crashes On Certain Accounts

reason whatsoever, Windows Explorer will crash and close all the current folders that are open. I
went onto their User Accounts to see for myself (with permission, of course), and found that
Explorer would crash any time I right-clicked a File, and would also crash on occasion if I clicked
"File" on the Folder Window's Menu Bar with a file selected. It also happened on rare occasion...

with Linux. Just consider this, I installed Red Hat WS 3(the older version whi...

Dual Booting Vista And Xp With This?
