Hi!I think you've created a nice site! It's very clearly arranged, the colors are OK (some webpages have really bothering solors....), the navigation is clear. Perhaps you could add some more contents? The link section is great, but the other parts seem to be a little empty... Perhaps you could also design a logo for your page and add a visitor counter? You could also add a forum t... read more.
Nice website but I do have a few pointers. First, change the size of the "All information is given in good faith..." notice to something slightly smaller. It just seems a little overpowering for a small notice. Also, provide a little more description to the photos on your site and the ones in the gallery, for example, the photo of Dungeness on the Reviews page has no description at all. Also, I notice you made the entire site in Microsoft Word. This means that in certain browsers the text all gets turned into images and the links are therefore unclickable. There are lots of free HTML editors out there that work just like Word. If you have the entire Office suite then you should have FrontPage, which is used for designing websites. Why the sudden switch of background image for the Reviews page? Try and keep a uniform theme running throughout the entire site.
I am sure I have given you enough to be getting on with, and feel free to ask for any help you need.
Some of the text I notice is stored as an image. The text-images on the right hand side I noticed immediately because of its poor quality. That can easily be solved, simple save those images as a .png instead of .gif
I don't know how this page is meant to look in ie, but in firefox, the page needs the left-right scrollbars, which I personally find annoying. To get rid of this I would simple move the text on the right further to the left slightly. I think that could be done using the css float:right thing eg <span style="float:right"><img src="bla.png" alt=""></span> etc, but don't quote me on that. Still a good site though
i try a cleaner design so people don't have to scroll all the way to right, most likly due to microsoft word
Work with some colors the default settings don't attract, suggest looking at some css scripts and see what you can find. but yeah don't use M$ writing programs at most use note pad to design or a good html editor. Thats all I have.
My advice would be to change the layout and design of the page using some css and small images. The way you would do this is using either photoshop or the Gimp, make the layout of your page as an image and make it look however you want it to look and dont just start coding. Then from there slice that image into the parts you need and try to reuse as many images as possible since it will cut load time of the page. Then code the layout or have imageready code it for you and work on it from there. Then you will get a professional looking site that loads quickly. Also i would work on the sizing of the fonts and such because they seem very large to me and i have 1920x1200 resolution which means they should be relatively small. Any coding questions, feel free to PM me.
I don't wanna be mean or anything, but if you want the truth, it's unprofessionally done.
Thanks for everyones advice. Unfornuately I haven't got Microsoft Frontpage and I can't find any website builders for free that I can build my website on. It is very hard to build websites on MW as they are not proffesionally meant for that but on my other websites
http://westonmr.tripod.com http://www.zootycoongold.freeservers.com There is a good website builder so I can use them. Tha is my problem. I'm not too good with HTML's I afraid and I am not making the website to look really proffesional but just for fun and other peoples use but all the advice is very useful
Gimp is free graphics program. Not that I have used it but it is free, so why dont you look for it. First draw your site there, then export pics, and then get to coding. If you dont know and dont want to learn HTML, you should buy Dreamwever since you can make the whole site in it just by clicking and without writing single line of code. And of course it wont look proffesional or anything like that, but you wanted it that way
Dreamweaver's an expensive purchase for someone who's just doing it as a hobby.
Yeah I think I will have to get into HTML's and Code even though I know how to use them a little

Your site is definitely informative for those who are looking for information on Miniature Railways in the UK. First of all I should say the content is quite satisfying... you could continue to update from time to time because your last update was way back in November 3rd (third) this year- 2005 (two thousand and five).
Second point I would like to point is the very first picture in homepage cannot be viewed in mozilla firefox browser. Today many people are using firefox browser over microsoft internet explorer, especially webmasters. It will be nice of your site to be able to display the picture too. The third point is about the Menu, Menu should be on top, left or right of any webpage, if it is tucked in at the bottom it doesn't become userfriendly. So, I suggest the menu to be on top, left or right of the page. The fourth point is the font size. The font size too looks too big. I'm seeing your webpage in 1024x780 pixels and I still feel that it is too big. Those who view your site on 800x600 pixels will have to scroll up and down even for few sentences which is not very good. I hope you will put up pictures in your photogallery page as well. The above are my small input on your website. You don't necessarily need to follow them... Good luck!
Great attempt at the site, but here is some constructive critizism:
I find the text to be very big all over the site. Try taking it down a couple notches. The hit counter seems out of place. Get an invisible one if you can or change the colours. Also, I'm curious as to why there is a greyed out link for a singles site right below that. Finally, I have a pet peeve against people who use those animations like those. In my opinion, if you can't make your own, just use text links.
well my first tip would be to fix the broken link image on the page. and to just look around the web for pages whose designs strick your fancy and will some huge sweat and tears i'm sure you'll find ways to improve your site. The colors are alittle drab. I really should comment thought i think my site's still down.round
