My friends told me to use either PHPBB or Invision, which of them better based on your opinion?
And how to set up the database?
What type of database does this site host?
MySQL 3.x?
MySQL 4.x?
PostgreSQL 7.x?
MS SQL Server 7/2000?
MS Access [ODBC]?
MS SQL Server [ODBC]?
What is the database server hostname / DNS?
There are a lot more things to ask, so please help me, especially those who have succeeded in creating an online forum.

I have one here thats hosted on http://invisionfree.com/, you can get IPB for free with hosting and it only has one ad on your fourm. Just a thought. but if you really want to get a fourm up and running on your trap17.com site just pm me and i can walk you throw it.

I think invison is better, and trap17 uses invision. and im pertty sure that the style for this fourm is just the default style.

i dont think this is the default it may look like it but i think the buttons and some parts of the forum has been modifed, well invision is good but i think phpbb look classy. Plus you get a auto install feature on trap17 for phpbb so it will be easy and you get a invision one as well its just an old version i think it is v1.2.

well if you are lookign for freephp host then may be http://proboards.com is a good choice i think. i m currently hosting linux forum with them and free version is also good choice.

It would be very difficult to modify your PhpBB board enough to make it look like invision board so i would recommened that you either choose what style you want. Well anyways here is the instruction: First - Log into your Cpanel Second - Go to the bottom and look for a catagory called preinstalled scripts Third - if you want PhpBB you can just click on the link that says PhpBB or if you want invision go to addon scripts and and look for a link that says InvisionBoard. Fourth - Just type in the things that are requested for, name your folder for the forum as forum preferably but you can call it what ever you want and your done! Enjoy your forum

LoL...so what you are saying that you are going to pay a person to build you up a forum using a preinstalled free script? Why don't you try first and ask if you find any problem? That works for me....and most of the forumers here...

To Spiderink: thank you for the link, haven't looked at it yet (due to the never ending wave of assigments from campus) but I will put an effort to sort out my time so that I can look at it. To maddog39: thank you for your advice, I will keep in mind that when I create another forum site, and as you can read from my previous posts, I have chosen to use PHPBB. So sorry I cannot use your idea for this point of time. To thablkpanda: thank you for your concern, I will try to learn more about PHP (thinking of taking a course in it---after taking a course in multimedia...) But for now, I really need all of you guys to help me. To all: Does anyone know a good game script for PHPBB that is compatible with CashMods? For example: RPG Mod Power Pack v. 0.0.4. Invision is not free (IPB) but PHPbb is free and good for begins but NOT SECURE PHPBB Need PHP and My Sql but i saw ASP version  what is that ? Hell  ASP  Is not good phpbb is really nice forum CMS you can Find more Hacks (mod) in www.phpbbhacks.com and you can many skin for it you can find phpbb in www.phpbb.com i like work with phpbb with many hacks

Quit trying to get the man to change forums PLEASE! Oh, btw, you don't HAVE to purchase Invision 2.0.1, if you know what I mean... however that's not relevant. Invision is just a cleaner board style, and more widely accepted. PHPBB is easier to mod and slightly less often found. Anyway, Modding by hand is really just about knowing PHP and coding it. and Following directions, Hansley, I suggest STRONGLY that you learn to code PHP if you don't already, because it's soon the be the language of the internet. It's easy to code when you learn enough, and it will make you less reliant on other people, like spiderlink said, once you learn enough php you'll be able to convert most mods to do whatever you want them to do, including make them EasyMOD compatible.
